This puts a whole new meaning to "Kenspo spilling the beans". :-P

On a serious side note: I'm waiting for the first real leaks. And please don't read this sentence with Kenspo's new assignment in your mind. :-P

No thanks. I don't want to ever see Rupert, myself [or some squirrels], in under wear or diapers.

So what to expect this year?
  • K-1 full frame
  • HD 70-200mm/f2.8. (again, but this time functional)
  • HD DA 15-30mm (Tamron rebadge)
  • anything else?
According to K-mount lens roadmap from last year the upcoming lenses are:
DFA large diameter wide zoom, which most probably will be a 15-30/2,8 by Tamron
DFA standard zoom, obviously a FF kit zoom, seemingly 28-105mm/3,5-5,6
DA wide zoom, probably a 12-24/4 successor with longer reach, looks like 12-28mm.
Itīs clear the kit lens will be introduced along the K-1 and I guess so will the FF wide zoom (not much work with a rebadge). The DA wide zoom will come later IMO. And since the K-1 will be such a big thing for Pentax I guess thatīs all for at least half of the year.
Anyhow I would like to see some DA lenses reworked (at least HD coated, screwdrive motor replaced by DC motor etc.).

- AF-S Nikkor 24mm F1.8G ED
- AF-S Nikkor 200-500mm F5.6E ED VR.
Not a fanboy just sick of hearing how the big two bring out new lens so often which they do not do. I spend much more time on another forum where most are Canon and Nikon users and hear same complaints from them so they introduced some new lens last year most had been waiting for a minimum of 10 years for updates or a new lens.

Yes, reworked DA lenses with better AF speed, HD coating and WR protection is most welcome.

Isn't so easy since the screwdrive is in the camera You basicly need to redesign the entire lens. Same story with the sdm-lenses. A ringtype DC motor is a totally different beast than the old geared sdm-drive.

Same with me and even if I wanted(or could afford) the 'full frame' I am sure their lens lineup would be enough. For pentax to concentrate on producing expensive glass for the 'FF' at the expense of APS-c users doesn't seem the way to go

Did I miss something about K3II and 645Z?

I knew only that one:

Studio shot comparison: Digital Photography Review

Please have a look to the 20 SHILLING banknote and check for details. That's still quite close to the middle to the frame. More interesting at the corners (take any you like) and check those USAF resulotion measuring patterns.

But maybe that's just sample variation? I see the D810 slightly ahead on the banknote and quity far ahead at the corners.

That's why lenses will be the point deciding the resolution, sensor shift is less important than the lens and can only help furhter, if the lens is superb.

That said, Pentax has the knowledge to develop very high quality lenses, just have a look at 645 lenses presented in the past 2 years. They just have to do it. It doesn't have to be that much choice, 24/2.0 and a 35/1.4 for example will do it instead of 20/1.8, 24/1.4, 24/1.8,..... like others offer, but a minimum chioce of high quality lenses has to be given if takling about high reolution. And they have to be avialble soon, 2 years after the body is too late.

They used the DA* 55mm 1.4 for the K-3 II shots. (And not the 50mm 2.8 macro as usual). That was a mistake because the borders and corners of the 55 are not that good. It is essentially a portrait lens for aps-c.

I see also some difference at the banknote, which is quite close to the middle. And off course the 50/2.8 is likely to be better at the corners. But this is just even more stressing high quality lenses are needed, isn't it? Currently, the FA 31mm is the widest prime supporting full frame officialy. And that one is a great lens, but not mainly for shaprnes at the borders, it has other great strengths than that. Didn't they say they are going to dicontinue one or some of the FA limited? Would turn it even worse, if discontinue des not mean replaced immediatley by a successor.
Which lens wider than the 50/2.8 would one chose if chasing for details up to the borders? The 645 35mm line? I know the 35 A 645, it is a great piece of glass and certainly suitable. But wider than 35mm?
36 MP and the multishot sensorshift feature are great, but they will require great lenses, too.

Pixelshift does not require the lens to resolve more than a normal shot. That's a large part of the beauty of it.

I think the FF kit zoom will be 24-105 F4.. It does not make sense for people, who spent $3000 on a camera, to put a $100 crappy 28-105mm/3,5-5,6 lens on it...
