Btw, i am really pissed-off by the AF non-disclosure of those who know about it.
This point is for sure a "win or loose" feature for this K-1 because there's been so much lagging behind who you know...
For me, AF is not really important as most of my interests lie in macro/close-up.

However, last several years Ricoh/Pentax had put a lot of efforts (as saw from their patent applications) on AF improvement. None of them had applied to K3/K3II. It sounds that K-1 should be able to use some of them.
  • Ricoh filed a patent for contrast AF by the AE sensor in order to achieve accurate AF without using live view.
  • Ricoh filed a new patent in Japan for a phase detection AF that could be used to ensure precise AF during video/live view.
  • Ricoh Patent: IR sensors to improve AF accuracy
  • Ricoh 広い測距範囲と暗所AFを実現する特許
  • Ricoh ランダムパターンのフォーカシングスクリーンの特許
  • ....

Pentax might release 60 F2.8 macro lens soon , which is one (only one?) FF lens patent in recent years.

Another thing, just find D750 body only is $2000.0 and with a 24-120 F4 ($1100 lens), it is $2300.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1082604-REG/nikon_d750_dslr_camera_with.html
Since K1 price is close to D750, wondering what K-1 with kit lens price will be :-)

One last thing: If we check the 2014 FF rumor:
http://thenewcamera.com/pentax-full-frame-coming-on-2014/
  • Pentax Fullframe camera is coming on 2014, expected to arrive before Photokina 2014.
  • New DFA lenses will be offered. + 2.8 constant aperture zooms are also coming.
  • New WR lenses will be launched.
  • K-01 failed because of design (finally they accepted). New Mirrorless camera are coming with new designs in 2014.
  • Ricoh/Pentax Medium format may be announced in the Q4 of 2014.
  • SMC DA LIMITED are discontinued.
Lot of rumors come true. Gosh, two year delays...

What is the point of a 60 f/2.8 macro when we've already got the 50 f/2.8 macro? Unless, of course, it is glorious optics, and a different league. I guess that would be the case. Canon also has a 60 f/2.8 macro. Any reason for it being 60 instead of 50, just in general?

Replace 50mm 2.8 to make people avoid buying lens with duplicate focal length?

One more thing: Pentax has the tradition to make macro lens at different focal lengths: 35mm, 50mm, 90mm, 100mm, 120mm and 200mm(counting 645 lens)... So it might not be strange to see 60mm at all :-)

Ugh, I need to stop following this thread. The anticipation is killing me!

Funny thing is, the only question I have for the FF is this: Will it come in gunmetal (or even silver)? I regretted being an early adopter of the K-3 only because the gunmetal version that released later looked so nice. The K-3 was more camera than I really wanted/needed.

Oh, and I don't remember seeing info on whether or not it's weather resistant.

Other than that, my money and I are ready for it!

I'm betting on basic black at first

They have clearly stated its WR at the teaser website:
"When coupled with a weather-resistant PENTAX 35mm full-frame digital SLR camera body, it creates a dependable, durable imaging system that performs superbly even in the rain or mist, or at locations prone to splashing water."

K-1 will use D-Li90 battery.
I expected a new battery to keep a K5IIs like autonomy. I don't think it's a good news.

you dont think its a good news to have a new battery or to keep the D-Li90 ?? I think that they should keep the D-Li90, its good, and you can find third party batteries as well.. and is used by several cameras, including the 645Z.. Doing a total new battery just for one camera IMO is not such an smart move.

Exactly. Many users have spare bateries and it is great to be able to use them in a new camera (personally I have never felt the need to have a spare baterry since my K-5 IIs can make some 1000 shots per battery charge, but others can shoot more). I hate when every new product has itīs own accesory, different from preceding models (iPhone charger being the best example). Thatīs why I like Limited lenses: different focal lengths, but the same filter thread.

Here's a brainstormer, if Pentax have asked for new patent on various af focus systems, I.e, phase detection and contrast detection could it be possible that our new FF Pentax is mirrorless. I have heard that there is so many problems and new innovations for af technology on mirrorless, so......could it be possible????????????

No it's not. That's a DSLR, maybe an hybride VF but still a DSLR.

That, again. Where's the cat facepaw picture?
For Pete's sake, Ricoh was clear about it from the beginning.
