What do you mean by that?
That is the button that takes the FF where no other full frame camera can go. It is pixel shift and then some.

So what to expect this year?
  • K-1 full frame
  • HD 70-200mm/f2.8. (again, but this time functional)
  • HD DA 15-30mm (Tamron rebadge)
  • anything else?
I saw the "entire lineup" for the dealers to order. There was no 15-30. Perhaps later on after the FF introduction. The 70-200 was there along with a fully functional FF (with a taped over name part), ready to go. It would be pre CP+ announcement but what I was told is different (earlier) than the dates that are floating around. I think a Feb. 18 announcement is realistic. If it ends up being sooner than that then it would be a pleasant surprise for all of us who want to get one.

I am looking forward to WWPI in Vegas from March 7th on. Last year Pentax only brought the 645Z because this is predominantly a show for professionals. I think this year Pentax is going to bring both the 645Z system, the FF, and possibly the APSc line up as well. The booth size seems to be larger than last year and in a much better location.
So I do hope that they bring their entire line up. Last year they raffled off three 645Z and 55mm lens packages. I am hoping they do that and also give away some FF cameras! Now that would be a blast.

Pentax should make sure that the world pays attention... we can expect a lot more announcements form others at CP+ and yes these announcement will affect Pentax and the future of FF. Canon should present a camea in the same price bracket as the K1 plus some follow up of the current 5D. Add a couple IS lenses or VR from Nikon and the Pentax combo is losing a lot of its advantages - no wonder after all the delays.
After the Pentax announcement we need to digest features, wait for serious people report on the features and camera and lenses to its pears. So before summer, we will have no clue, but excitement will only start after we get to know the bare sepcs.
I don't see Canon or Nikon bringing out any new lens maybe update a few they do not bring out new lens very often only one I can think of that is really new is the Nikon 200mm-500mm other than that not much exciting on their lens line up

Indeed, in 2015 they 'only' brought up:

Canon

- EF 11-24mm f/4L USM
- EF 50mm F1.8 STM lens
- EF 35mm F1.4L II USM with blue spectrum refractive optics

Nikon

- AF-S DX Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED VR II
- AF-S Nikkor 300mm f/4E PF ED VR with a phase Fresnel element
- AF-S DX Nikkor 16-80mm F2.8-4E ED VR
- AF-S Nikkor 500mm F4E FL ED VR with fluorite elements
- AF-S Nikkor 600mm F4E FL ED VR with fluorite elements
- AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm F2.8E ED VR
- AF-S Nikkor 24mm F1.8G ED
- AF-S Nikkor 200-500mm F5.6E ED VR.

So what options will Pentax have, ofering les than 24mm and coverage of the full sensor? I understand they cannot offer the same choice as Nikon or Canon, but at least one real wide lens (non fisheye) has to be available. So they'd better get the lenes up and running. A 2500$ pro DSLR body is not the same like a small, light mirrorless for 500 or 800$, where people more easily accept that a 18-55, 50-200 and 2 pancakes is all they can buy to fit this camera. Sigma, Tokina and Tamron are not urging for that Pentax FF market either, so won't be easy to fill all the gaps by their lenses, right?
And they should have a look at primes, too. Well, the 24-70/2.8 is certainly a good zoom lens, offering about the same quality as the Nikon and Canon. Great, but both Canon and Nikon have prime lenses too, at 20 24, 28, 35mm, going beyong the zoom lenses in terms of resolution,... So the 36 MP aren't at the end the same as the 36 MP in a D810 or the 50 MP in a 5Ds R, bet the 5Ds R in combination with the 24mm L will be clearly better than the 24-70/2.8 Oentax/Tamron on a 36 MP, be it a Pentax or Nikon body?

Who let this guy in here?

NEVER, EVER ask those kinds of questions...

Everything you say is why I scratch my head a lot and wonder who is actually steering the Ricoh ship? For some reason I see a German guy in a wheelchair smoking a cigarette who looks a lot like Peter Sellers...

Do not worry. We will have 15-30 wide angle, new FA limited. And more importantly, we have super pixel shifting... The static landscape shots will easily blow any other 135 format camera away giving k3ii super shifting had matched 645Z already...

The lens I'm dreaming of, though it's not in any rumors, is D-FA* 55mm F/1.4 HD DC. A simple update of the DA* 55mm F/1.4, which already covers the full frame image circle (or so I've read, anyway). Just give it HD coatings, a faster DC focus motor, and ship it with two hoods (one for APS-C and one for full frame). Presto, nice fast normal for FF and updated portrait prime for APS-C.

Not sure when DFA 55mm 1.4 SDM will be updated given DA 50mm 1.8 and 55mm 1.4 are FF ready. There have a lot of other holes in lens line-up. So the priority sounds to be low. More likely we will see a DFA* 50mm F1.2 sometimes as a upgrade from 55mm 1.4

Do you think Ricoh will release a press release say "x, y, and z aps-c lenses will work perfectly on FF"? I can't imagine them leaving their audience clueless that a lot of their lenses will actually work on FF...

Honestly, the lenses coming out of the FF release are what excites me more than the FF
APS-c is enough for my uses. In case someone missed that, I said for MY USES please don't start a debate.

Most are just minor updates to existing lens
