Betty White is a Pentax user!

I caught this Pentax cameo at the end of a "Bones" episode tonight. It's a teaser for next week's episode, guest starring Betty White. Looks like a white K-30...

I dunno who Betty White is either. But lately I have been watching an American real-life crime series about forensic investigations. Cameras are featured in every case, and Pentax is much in evidence. In the latest episode I watched it was a K1000. The series is a bit old now, and so not much in the way of digital cameras, though I did see an early Nikon/Kodak hybrid monster.

The silver ring on the front, the white dot on the side...is she using an M or K series manual focus lens?

Cameras on TV is actually quite amusing. Clearly a lot of these programmes are after some sort of product placement sponsorship, and when they don't get it they either choose some completely inappropriate film-era camera or start blacking out the letters so the brand isn't recognisable. If you ever see scenes with a huddle of photographers it's so funny watching what they do, because they just about always make mistakes trying to act as a photographer

I'm not going to go out of my way to watch the show just to see a K-30 ........... Bones doesn't really interest me being a a cops and murderers show yadda yadda yadda. Lifes too short to watch some poseurs analyses semen samples and blood splatter !

But go Pentax, you're a star now in Betty Whites hands ! World famous in Hollywood !

I just about have an aneurysm when I see scenes that involve photography, because the actors always get it wrong...I suppose paparazzi aren't the best examples to learn from.

It really would be interesting to know which lens she's using. The hood looks modern, and not like a macro lens hood at all, which is a shame - because it's what she ought to be using. Still, we'll take our Pentaxes where we can get them (and I do use a Pentax for my forensic work, for the record - K-5 with DA 35/2.8 Macro).

Perhaps it's a prototype lens, from the new series of primes expected starting with the next year...
And so, yet another nonsensical rumor was born

(18-55 WR?)
