If you're there at all, can you try and get pictures from all around the screen?

I also thought the display looked like it might be detachable. Wouldn't that be something? I can imagine all the whining about how it didn't work from a mile away and how it wouldn't stay on 24 hours already!

Looks like it has a physical wire connecter that's detachable?

Not sure what the SR part is about...
The patent is for a detachable screen with wireless transfer. The paper make explicit reference to SR being desabled when the screen is not connected as this will safe power and the assumption is that the camera will be on tripod.

The display was officially announced by Pentax/Ricoh France on Facebook.

Indeed and I guess France is Pentax's biggest market in Europe. At least it was like that a few years ago...
I happen to accidentally know the person responsible for the marketing strategy of Pentax Europe that was hired by Ricoh (after the previous guy left or was fired), since I used to be a marketer for a decade, and that person has a pretty high level of expertise in marketing, and was actually behind some of the things that happened to revive the Pentax brand after the acquisition by Ricoh. It wasn't by random that a dedicated Pentax shop (show room) was opened in Paris , including some other moves such as the decision to make a full frame.
