Some FF news

Today I went at a Pentax shop in Paris (and bought a 150-450 ), and discussed about the FF, and here are some rumors:
- the sensor will probably be 36 Mp
- the crop mode can be either manual or automatic
- the prism should be awsome
- a grip will be available (no big surprise here, bit still good to be sure)

I think I didn't forget anything, if so I'll update the post!

If true, YAY for the manual crop mode. Did they say if it had multiple crop modes? (1.5x 1.2x 5:4 ??)

The prism should be awesome, eh? I'm betting OVF with superimposed HUD-style data overlay and please, oh please, a split focusing aid (real or simulated).

What about the mount? Standard KAF3? Or have they done the impossible and crammed the aperture coupler back in there?

Enjoy your new lens, BTW!!

Congrats on the lens. Please post some pictures in the 150-450 pictures thread when you get a chance.

I did not asked, but if there is a manual mode, you can do what you want in pp. The crop mode can be controlled from the two new wheel on the top of the camera, so I guess that some options could be available.

Sorry I did not asked more information about the viewfinder, I'll see if I have an email to contact him.

I don't know either for the mount, and I don't think that he will have more information, he only had it for a few moments.

Sure I will !

BTW, the store is really great, ALL the Pentax cameras and lenses are available, and even some collectors, like a huge 6x7 800 f4 ^^ . I also had a good price for the 150-450, at 2000€, which is a little bit less than the cheapest offer I found on the internet in France.

Interesting! Let's hope they get the "prism issues" sorted out before they have to push back the announcement date again...

Prism issues? So that means it is not a "simple" piece of glass..? Maybe it has something new in there, sounds interesting!

It sounds very interesting indeed. Constructing and producing a simple FF prism shouldn't be very problematic, so one might indeed assume that we're not talking about a straightforward, normal prism here.

I 2nd the split focus idea. I've a Katzeye focus screen on my K-3. It has split focusing plus a rule of thirds grid. I don't think Katzeye is in business any longer so I can only hope the Ricoh has it stock on the FF, though in honesty I doubt it.
