Milbeaut m-8m for K-1?

http://www.socionext.com/en/pr/sn_pr20151022_01e.pdf

Maybe the reason Why the FF didn't come in autumn. The Milbeaut new generation 4k 30fps processor was only announced on October 22.

QuoteQuote:
The MB86S27 features the following specifications:
・ CPU: ARM Cortex A5 MP 400MHz x 2 (Socionext RTOS/Linux)
・ Connected Sensors: subLVDS 12 lanes + 3 clocks 800 Mbps/lane
・ Interfaces: PCIe Gne2, 2 lanes x 1 channel, or PCIe Gen1, 1 lane x 2 channels RGMII v1.3, 1Gbps
・ Network: TCP/IP, RTP/UDP/IP Offload Assist, Protocol Stack, Offload engine
・ Image Processing: H.264 Video Codec Encoding: Full HD@120fps, 4K@30fps Multi-Encoding (up to 6 streams)
・ Imagine Processing IP: Noise Reduction, Optimization of high sensitivity
・ Power Consumption: 1.3W (typical, when operating 4K@30fps)
・ 360-degree Distortion Correction: Panorama-image, Multi-image
・ Super-resolution: Maximum 4x magnification
Socionext seems to be aiming this chip more at video, but it is the direct successor of the M-7m that is in the K-3/K-3II, so we'll have to see whether it is in there or that Ricoh has chosen another image processor. Of course they could also use a customized version of this one with more photography features.

I don't think so. The last generation milbeaut was announced in september 2013 and was in K-3 a few week's later. So the test period of the milbeaut was going with the K-3. I guess this wouldn't be different for the new generation and the K-1.

I think we discussed this new m-8m already overhere somewhere before Summer.

If Ricoh cooperated with the manufacturer and used prototypes of the chip for staging/testing maybe ... otherwise the relase date would be too late to make it into the the full frame (assuming release date Q1 2016)... I think.

When It starts shipping on october 22 it can't be in the K-1 at the same time. Before it starts shipping there will be samples to work with because otherwise it's not much use shipping it when nobody has an implementation for it yet. We discussed the M8-m but there were no detailed specs yet I believe, other than that it could do 4k.

This may also explain the slow development of high-end cameras from other Milbeaut-using camera companies (ie the much delayed Nikon D5).

The built-in PCI Express 2.0 and TCP/IP support is interesting. No excuses anymore for Pentax not to support tethering .

I don't think it is in the K-1, or we would have seen better video performance

Direct successor to the one in the K3/K3II?
C'mon this is going into the next generation K3.
It makes sense, and if it's a true successor, it would be a no brainer.
Even more so since we have the K70 playing with some video enhancement and we need something with better video in a camera between it and the K1.
Bingo!
The K3III will be a video monster as well!

Seems like a beast of a processor. Would be nice of the "K-3 III" used this in conjunction with, say, a 10-11 fps burst rate to make things easier for sports and action. :P
