Welcome. I'm glad you could get the new experience with my modest help.

Shoot in FF mode and make any crop mode in RAW converter.
Yes. I was wishing for 1.2x and 4:5 crop modes, but upon reflection that just adds complexity. Allow FF on any lens and then you can do anything you want with the image. Simple. I guess my one fear was they try to enforce APS-C crop if a DA lens was mounted to "ensure quality images". But I am happy if they allow FF mode all the time. Gives the flexibility to do what you want.

Why 1.2x?
Some of DA lenses has 1.3x, some - 1.4x or 1.5x and several lenses could cover ~ 1.1-1.05x.

As for different grids - I think K-1 will have various type of grids - 5:4, 3:2, 4:3, 1:1 to shoot.

Even old GXR had the possibility to shoot in different modes - 16:9, 4:3, 3:2 and 1:1.

I hope we could use combination GRID MODE + CROP MODE and no need to add 1.2x or 4:5 crop mode.

No real reason. Nikon D800 has 1.2x mode I think, I guess I got it from there. I was thinking with 36mp camera you could get:
FF 36mp 7300 x 4900ish
1.2x 24mp 6100 x 4000ish (k-3 size)
1.5x 16mp 4800 x 3200 (k-5 size)

Just seemed a logical way to do things. Maybe they will allow different size RAW images in another way.

I find the option of using FA and DFA lenses in APC-C mode quite interesting. It basically makes two cameras in one, FF and APS-C without resorting to cropping in post process. Wild life shooters should appreciate this a lot. I'm not familiar with Nikon's implementation of the crop mode and whether it offers this kind of choice.

If Ricoh will produce 28 or 30 MP APS-C next year, who cares about 1.2x mode? Somebody want to see 10 MP or 6 MP modes from K10 and DS No need to satisfy everybody.

The real info is "yes the 55, 300 and 560 are FF compatible". Not really new but good to get the confirmation for the DA560.

As said earlier, pentax is very probably helping some DA lenses to lessen vignetting in providing some internal treatment, or even modifying raw/jpeg files in this respect.

I would not make such claims without some sort of proof
The DA 560mm level of vignetting is similar to that of much more expensive Canon and Nikon supertele lenses.

It's not truth

Corner light fall-off in EV (F-stops) at FF film
F5.6 1.3
F8 0.6

It means that at FF 560/5.6 couldn't have less vignetting at digital FF.
Read more at: DA 560mm F5.6 - is it a Full-frame lens? - Articles and Tips | PentaxForums.com

Have a look

Nikon 80-400/4.5-5.6 at FF

Canon 400/5.6 at FF

High vignetting at FF at opened apertures is the reality of wide-angle and super wide-angles lenses, but not telephoto.

Ogl, you're hand picking one example then claim that supertele lenses generally have low vignetting levels? And you're expecting that to work? With me?
Yes, I know that article - which should have been removed from the site because it draws an incorrect conclusion. That Pentaxforums didn't do that, instead insisting on the same line only hurts their credibility.

Take a look here:
Camera Lens Database - DxOMark
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 400mm f/2.8E FL ED VR
Canon EF 400mm f/4 DO IS II USM
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 200-400mm f/4G ED VR II
Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM
Nikon AF-S Nikkor 400mm F2.8G ED VR
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/4G ED VR
they all have vigneting levels of over 1EV. But that's not considered a problem.

You are too emotional. Your method of discussion is wrong.

I can't trust DXO test of lenses. It's rather strange and dim methods and system of ratings.
No any INFO about vignetting at all apertures. Show me, please.

But if you trust this tests, you should understand that it could be wide-opened vignetting of lenses.

What can we see?

We can see that Nikon AF-S Nikkor 400mm F2.8 has EV1.1 at F2.8 - right?
It means that this lens has never vignetting EV1.3 at F5.6. Right?
Right.

Next...All of this telephotos lenses are fast and have not vignetting above EV1.0 (at the average) wide-opened.
It means that all this lenses NEVER have the same vignetting at F5.6 as DA560/5.6 has wide-opened.

The vignetting of all this lenses are MUCH lower and negligible at F5.6.

Photozone is rather objective test with IMATEST and offers rather exhaustive explanation.
DXO offers NOTHING, just numbers.

---------- Post added 12-25-2015 at 09:24 AM ----------

We go to slrgears to check real tests at FF cameras
