Syracuse had 50 inches of snow in February last year. The warmest day of the month was 32F and there were 4 days where it didn't reach double digits.

But this year is an El Nino year. We are probably going to have the warmest winter on record

What's really weird is that it is December, and we still have green grass and there are flowers opening on the forsythia bush...

Yup I believe it's still slated for a spring release, probably February.

You mean the release of the K-1? Or the K-1 II which will do what the K-1 should have done?

Negative, but realistic, given the history of recent camera releases from Pentax and other brands.

Few recent camera models seem to come out of the factory 'perfectly formed', and in no need of further modification or improvement for a long time. Plus the product release cycle simply seems to have increased for all brands.

But having said that, some FF bodies - eg Nikon D700, Canon 5D, 5D2 - seemed to be OK out of the box, and stayed in production and essentially unchanged for many years. So there remains hope for v1 of the new Pentax. Maybe it will be engineered for longevity.

Hmmm. getting a southern girl out of her flannel... is that a worthwhile endeavour? You make it sound like something I might want to do.

Rather going for the one on ebay I think one should wait for the updated versions. Obviously there are going to be some differences between the earlier beta version and the final version.

I'd agree. He's probably the one to get the only copy and therefore trying to sell befor the final product is released.

Anyway, thanks for all the clarification re the lens on Ricohs website. Despite some negative tones here regarding future Pentax products, I'm excited!
