CES 2016 Ricoh Booth

Here's the Booth Ricoh's Got for the 2016 CES show!
Right below GoPro. Sort of small, but hey - there's always hope it'll grow bigger! Canikon's booths can only grow smaller...

It's the Consumer Electronics Show, not Photokina or CP+. Look at the size of Casio's booth!

Hotel Clerk: Do you have seventeen dollars and a good watch?
Del: No I don't. I have uh... two dollars... and a Casio.
Hotel Clerk: I'm going to have to say goodnight, so...

These shows are about how much money you want to spill on the floor.

Ricoh has shown in past events that they're not that interested in showing Pentax stuff in CES. Maybe they get to showcase printers here

Except in past shows they didn't have much in the way of exciting new Pentax items to show.

When I spoke with the Ricoh rep in November, he indicated there would be announcements related to the upcoming FF and FF-lenses for CES. (He also said the D-FA 70-200 would start shipping in Nov, so...)

I'm hoping for another FF-under-glass and an updated lens roadmap, with 2 or 3 new D-FA lenses announced, maybe even a Pentax-branded 15-30/f2.8 on display. I think the full launch of the FF will be at CP+

My guess is that the boot from GoPro is larger then last time. Their marketcap is plumming and while their stock was once almost $100, now it is just $ 17! Getting a big booth is a way to show that you are alive and really are not afraid of Chinese competition offering the same camera for just a fraction of your product.

Alternatively, it's a way of showing you ARE afraid of the Chinese competition... I mean, look at the size of the Samsung stand, and Huawei's eating their lunch in the Android phone market. Whistling in the dark, we used to call it.

I haven't been paying attention to the Android market ... Samsung no longer dominates??
Shows how fast things can change under the right circumstances!!
