Definitely a better price but you can still get the FA*80-200 for half that price. I would be very interested in testing the lenses side by side to see what the differences actually are. My FA*80-200 is awesome so I assume the DFA*70-200 will be at least as good

That lens, while good, might be ever so slightly less sophisticated than this new one.

I'd love to have a quality lens, but at 2kg it just seems too unwieldy. I feel sorry for the Canon guys lugging a giant pipe in a case, and the 24-70 is about as heavy as it is reasonable to dangle on one's neck. Do you guys intend to carry this lens around or put it in a studio or in the car?

A+
f/4 zooms make a lot of sense. I have, in a camera bag somewhere, a Sony FE 70-200/4 G OSS unto which is attached an A6000 got on the cheap. Although not the greatest of lenses (especailly on the A7r), this is a great lightweight combo and by far the most fun especially in Wide/AFC/tracking/fast mode. Only wish the A6000 didn't have an AA filter.

Been pondering the K-1 with the 70-200/2.8. It'll all come down to AF-C/tracking speed with that lens as to whether the Buy button gets pushed. After all, speed is the reason to have big hefty DSLR's these days.

Getting older, fatter, wheezier, weaker, generally poorer, I'm concerned about the overall weight to performance to price ratio of this hefty rig at likely over 3 kilos with grip, batteries etc compared to under a kilo (I think) for the racy little Sony mirrorless crop set up.

I had pre ordered the DFA 70-200 in October, but I finally cancelled my DFA 70-200mm pre-order and changed my mind for the DFA 24-70...
I am thinking I could live with the 60-250mm in the meantime, or get a used Tamron or Sigma for about 1/3 the price...

I just received it today...
It will replace my DA*16-50. The range will be completed with the DA15LTD in the meantime the FF is coming....

Here is my new toy
Well...
Pulled the trigger on the D*FA 70-200mm... (Ordered) after seeing sample shots on th DPR threads...
Will need to decide if I keep the 60-250 and the Sigma 70-200 OS... (most probably the Sigma will go...)

Pentax can still not deliver in Germany. Looks like they sold a hand full and ran out of lenses. Maybe I should rethink my order - and I explicitly did not order from Pentax directly to support a Pentax camera store - a big one that still offers all Pentax gear.
The lens has arrived. It is great, it is big and it works. Need a bigger camera to control it. K1 ust be next...
