HD D FA* 70-200mm f/2.8 -April, May, June, 2016, 2017, 2018

Although you can still click the buy button on most Pentax/Ricoh homepages world wide, this lens has been delayed again on the JP webside. This pain is not even a rumor, it's offical.

Time to say good bye.

Didn't they say early spring, around the same time as the body? Or has there been a new update?

Last I remember, they said they'll come back with more information in December, which they did.

This means the lens is not in full production run...

Well, let's just hope it's on the shelves no later than the FF itself. No harm done until then IMO, though 10 months is a really long delay.

It's odd that this lens is delayed so much since it was given glowing reports by experienced professionals who used a pre-release version. That suggested it was pretty mature already. The wording of the latest Ricoh notice seems to indicate that they don't have it right yet; it's not just a production issue.

Sure, but there has been some discussion of its sharpness at the long end, too. I am afraid they might be in trouble with their design. Reminds me of the 60-250 development, unfortunately.

That's exactly what I tought when I heard about the first delay. Most important thing for this kind of lens at this price point is sharpness when wide open at long end in this case 200mm@f/2.8. This is not good at all. Maybe they should also rebrand latest Tamron 70-200 which is an excellent lens.

Perhaps it's too big for the FF

Or the other way around: too much vignetting and poor corners with a 24x36 sensor.

Has anybody tested a pre-production sample on a 24x36 sensor (e.g. Sony Alpha 7x)?

I would rather have a product delayed than introduced with problems.
