Don't listen to me I don't care. Just don't get on my case for trying to clean up your generalizations.
You quoted me, so I have to ask if that rant was actually aimed at me?

I generally aim at behaviours not specific people, so,

If you can't tell
I've done well.

But...
If the shoe fits wear it.

Then I'd appreciate you not quoting me if it's not aimed at me, or at least delineating it in some way, or sacking up and being clear about who you're swinging at.

Just promote your own gear, tell people what it will do and show them, and it will be fine. You only need disclaimers if you're going to trash other peoples gear. Even if you own or owned a piece of gear, you don't know your copy was a good copy, so it's still not cool trashing gear other people own.
I have never once trashed anyone for being happy with a lens they own and the image they got with it.

And if you don't believe me, reading all my 17,000 of my post trying to prove me wrong is an acceptable punishment.
Didn't need to read 17000, more like 2-3: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/10-pentax-slr-lens-discussion/310496-new-...ml#post3472099

People in the other thread (including me) were just saying that depending on your needs you may prefer the 16-85 or the 18-135, that the 16-85 was better i your were interrested in WA range and that the 18-135 was better i you were more interrested in the 85-135mm range. I added that i you didn't have much use of that 85-135 that range, you could do cropping the 16-85 @ 85mm on the occasion. I also said the 18-135 was a great lens and many other said it if you are careful to read.

Now your response:

QuoteOriginally posted by normhead Quote
You guys are aware that the barrel distortion on the 16-85 is over 3% at 16mm, and wide open at 4.5 at 85mm it's far less than stellar after 50-85, it's soft enough to suggest a discriminating photographer will use primes. I get that you guys love this lens but lets not get crazy here.

We could keep your next quote and replace 18-135 with 16-85 and the criticism would apply 100% to your own behavior:
- You don't own the lens
- You criticize its performance at focal length you other lens you compare it too doesn't even cover (16mm)
- You say it is soft at focal length the other lens you compare it too is even softer (here 50-85mm range).

How many times have the clowns on this forum come on here and trashed the 16-85? Clowns that have never as posted an image as good 16-85 images, in a lot of cases. How many clowns say I just use it for convenience? It has it's strengths just like any other lens. How many clowns say it's soft on the edges? It's not, it's soft on the edges until t's over 50mm, at 24mm it's razor sharp. How many times have people claimed it's soft, comparing it to a focal length where the lens they are championing is softer in that focal length?
The reality is that you didn't like what you have read, you reacted to it but when after people responded to you have got even more upset. You even manage to put the debate on this to the current thread about the 645Z. You even sugested you detractors should be banned.

Pentax 645z best Dxo score ever measured

QuoteOriginally posted by Dave L Quote
This makes me wonder, having read most but not all the posts in this thread, have we established or can we sensibly guess why DXO still haven't included the 645Z sensor ratings in their database? We know they have the ratings, but with no explanation from them months after publication was promised, it makes my suspicious mind wonder why.
It smells a little fishy, yes. They indirectly publish it here:
Measurements: Excellent low noise levels - DxOMark
but keep it from the database.

The longer they wait, the more chances are somebody comes up with a newer sensor which they then can test in a day and put it atop their ranking. Basically in theory the 645z has lead their scoreboard for 1,5 years now, which is quite some time in digital world.

Its not an excuse on DXOs behalf, but I think they might have had much to do in and around the Christmas. This is also a time of the year many get the flu. I expect the database to be updated during the first week of 2016, and the review to be published at the same time.

Sony's A7rii and RX1ii got their DxO mark sensor tests published within one month of release, Leica Q issued may 2015, is still missing.
In the meantime, everybody knows DxO One uses Sony sensor...
Co´ncidence ???

Pentax is using Sony sensors, too.
IMO they might just be doing a DPReview, deciding that Pentax content is low priority.

Pentax 645Z is using Sony sensors, but RICOH already bought one or two batches that Sony sold them... different story.

Sorry, if you said something you don't want quoted, don't post it. Sometimes people say something that inspires me, sometimes they say something that needs an answer. I can't be bothered going back and figuring out which it was.

Grow a pair.

I've no problem being quoted. I just can't tell if the rant that followed was aimed at people in the room or even people who exist. If you're generally promoting a positive attitude, then absolutely I'm all for it. If you're accusing people (specifically me) of wantonly trashing other peoples equipment or trying to rain on their happiness... then I really don't know what to say.

You can just acknowledge the fact that the 645z now has the best sensor ever scored by Dxo and be happy and envious for the users of such a tool.
A fun thread to browse to encourage those happy and envious feeling: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/48-pentax-medium-format/87027-post-your-m...hotos-535.html

(It's also a good way to pass the time while waiting for DxO's full review)
