This cow knows more than we do! They also shopped the second image right so the on/off duality switch is now a simple on/off switch.

Maybe, just maybe, some of the anticipated improvements made in the K1 can be passed on via firmware to the older cameras.
It depends on whether the hardware (screwdrive motor) has the ability to deliver reliably what the firmware asks of it - and conversely on the firmware engineers' ability to write code that does the job while not exceeding the capabilities or tolerances of the hardware. Likewise, there must be only so much you can do with firmware enhancements to the AF detection module on an individual camera. Sooner or later, you need hardware upgrades - not just firmware.

I suspect Pentax's control systems engineers really earned their paycheques on this one.

That cow first shot is lacking "spot" light + AEL measurement... or not so good for sensor's dynamics

So the K-1 is the udder truth with no bull about it! It's the veal thing! Time to quit beefing about it and hoof it over to the store and pre order one. I think that they have milked this announcement as much as they can. The K1 is officially the cream of the FF rising to the top.
