Just glancing hopefully at the R-P website again and wondering if they've already run out of obvious pre-launch things to say about the FF and whether that's a good thing or a bad thing ;D

I guess the D5 is to blame for the apparent lack of new information on www.pentax.com. :P

Well, I did offer them some ideas back in November. They seem to have adopted a few , and maybe will adopt a few more:
QuoteQuote:
From time to time before launch, the website could hint at each K-1 selling point or innovation:
  • week 1: respecting Pentax tradition [cue slideshow of Pentax history, LX, 6x7, 645 etc blending into shadowed FF body];
  • week 2: wide lens support out-of-the-box [cue slide-show of full-frame compatible lenses, old and new];
  • week 3: big bright viewfinder, with secret Pentax tech inside [slideshow of early spotmatic viewfinder hump, 6x7/645 viewfinder hump, peek inside and out of the new FF viewfinder];
  • week 4: a great sports camera [cue slideshow of football, ski jump etc scenes, glimpses of great new AF technology, high fps];
  • week 5: a great field camera [cue slideshow of landscape scenes, wildlife shots, flippy screen at work on tripod, water drops on side of camera body];
  • week 6: great for weddings and low-light [cue pix of smiling bride and groom in dark church interior, image crops showing great low-light low-noise detail of bridal veil, image of new BSI sensor],
etc.

They could progressively do a dozen of these on the website right up until the day of the launch.

Hmmm...that was a bit disappointing. I was expecting to read (based on photo) some cool info. Re the articulating screen.

Well, the photo is still interesting, e.g. the possible movement of the screen, also confirmation of dual card slots, looking carefully.

All this is known since October, when the body was shown in public.

Sample photos lack polish

I have been impatient with other members who have criticized the quality of samples presented by ANY manufacturers, but now...

The three newest photos are ... too subtle(?) for me They are dull landscapes that barely show what is described.

Please, Pentax. Please, Ricoh, engage a photographer, for goodness sake!

"Sample photos lack polish" - conspiracy theory mode: On.
Actually I think it's a brilliant marketing move: they want to make us think: "Hey, Pentax, I can do better than that!" - and so the desire to buy the camera and show them is born.

(No, I'm not serious)

Thank you for the last words.....

The only thing happening is that people really want to buy into Nikon, because you can make serious images with their camera's

They probably spend some money on it

Oddly, the us.ricoh-imaging.com homepage links to the Japanese version of that FF page. At least for me.

There is no question that we (at least, some of us - probably not me though) can make serious images with our cameras. The only question is if Ricoh Imaging can do it
