Pentax has been cagey as hell with this camera.

According to Asahiman Pentax has turned into the KGB since ricoh took over.

Is K-GB is going to be for Great Britain only?

Actually, i very much prefer the Pentax way of marketing that do rely strongly on engineer-photographers and as a result user-friendly UI which integrates and gives a better experience to you (and by side effects don't discourage you when publishing sample shots ) ; than to rely on "aboveground" spindoctors or marketing divas, that would take the better aside of your shooting habits, and charge heavily in return.... selling you useless performances you "never will get paid for".

I have to say that much as I enjoyed seeing the teaser shots and the site, the pictures don't really do anything to impress and if I were put in charge of Pentax marketing I would be using images from my Ambassador test team to show what the new camera can do - much as Nikon has done with he D5 and the article posted earlier. On the other hand there is something very 'Pentax' about the way they're going about things LOL!! I almost admire them for their quirky, bizarre, fawlty towers style marketing campaign and it does make a refreshing change from the usual corporate 'spin' that normal companies like Canon, Nikon, Fuji etc would put out...

What other company would show pictures taken with a lens it doesn't even make anymore (FA* 85mm F1.4) - even if it is a stunning lens!

Anyway, I'm a sucker for an eccentric underdog and my choice of products often reflects this - I shoot Pentax, ride a handbuilt English steel mountain bike (Cotic Soul), drive a TVR sports car and a Saab convertible, listen to music on a naim audio system. Compare this with my Canon shooting mate who rides a Specialised carbon mountain bike, drives an Audi and listens to music on a Japanese hi-fi or an Apple i-something or other!! He's mainstream, I'm not - maybe there's something in this after all!

Haing literally this week bough a 77mm limited brand new I'd be very grateful if anyone in the know could let me know off the record if there's about to be a model change because I still have a few days to return it unused and wouldn't want to have paid the £800 UK price I paid if they're about to launch a new improved version!!

Even if it is (nothing known about it) I suggest you keep this superb lens! It surely matches your life philosophy apart from its qualities!

It must be that that if real photographers were allowed to use the camera and take pictures they would be so good that Nikon and Canon would become terrified and attempt to sabotage the Ricoh factory to prevent it's release. Ricoh is simply being cautious and lulling the competition into sleep.

High risk strategy - seems to me that Pentax is doomed either way

The Ambassador plan is just two years old, Starting in januari 2014 and Pentax just did not make a decision on how, if and ever using images from the makers of those ambassadors. They just move slowly.

I'm not sure how informed you really are about the ambassador program - there's more to it that this; images do already get used, but you probably just haven't seen them. In fact there are different programs for different countries and even different tiers of programs within countries. How, when, where and which images get used depends on the local PR outfit that's in charge of the program in that country and the ambassador's agreement with them. The agreement isn't with Pentax central it's with a local PR outfit. I'm not sure if ambassadors are always just camera-specific either; ostensibly I'm a lower tier K-3II ambassador, but that hasn't stopped me letting them use K-7, K-5 and K-3II images; nor has that stopped them lending me a different (waterproof) camera next month for a trip I'm making to make underwater photos.
