Sounds too complicated. Trying to keep an eye in the viewfinder to track subject, use AF mode switch on left of camera body to select AF mode (whilst also supporting the camera/lens and adjusting zoom/focus), then use AF selector on rear of camera to select an AF point/zone, then toggle top rotor dial to choose AF zone, then press top dial button to activate selected zone, then start pressing shuttter button. Too much finger/hand activity needed all over the camera.
