The K-1 will come with a full leather nose scabbard included. Replacement scabbards are 59 $ for small and medium and 69 $ for the Cyrano version in any of 256 colors. A fur-lined winter model will be released next autumn.

My Panasonic GX7 disables the LCD screen when you use the viewfinder. It has some kind of proximity sensor, and it works pretty well. Maybe a little too well, as I sometimes activate the sensor on accident if my fingers get too close to the EVF.

Hm. I am getting quite curious about this camera. My company is considering buying a camera, but being seriously video capable is important enough. It needs to be a good all rounder.

When is the camera going to be released?

As for a touchscreen... it would be useful. And they could deactivate the touchscreen when you are looking through the viewfinder, or change the way it is used while using the viewfinder. Maybe have you be able to swipe, sort of as a third dial.

Maybe this is even something for me... I'm starting to think I could live with a 6D. If the K-1 isn't bigger/heavier... and has decent video... hm! The stills part matters too, of course, but I highly doubt that Pentax would get that wrong.

I dunno, K. As someone who uses video way more than the rest of us, maybe Panny or Olympus would be better for you.

It will probably have 4k, though, from the newest Fujitsu chipset.

Hm. The brief is a camera for product photography, corporate image and event photography and eventually some videos too, maybe from the events, or short product explanation ads. So it is mostly photography, and preferably full frame, but when spending so much it needs to be able to do more.
I don't think I am asking for anything extreme. 4K with high bitrates (amongst lower ones, to be honest I think 1080p would be fine though), LOG mode that is comparable to other brands so the videos match up closely enough, good image quality (not much line skipping please, and several options like using the complete sensor, doing 1:1, ...), focus peaking, and of course being able to use the SR during videos. None of these things would make it any worse for stills, and other brands have already implemented them, but they would make it interesting for people who do both or at least want the option of doing video.

When you buy a car, 80% of the time a small Ford Fiesta may be the perfect car for you. But 20% the time you need something bigger. What do you buy? A proper sedan.

BTW Neither of my names is anything to do with Bert or Wert, just some random screen name I made up

Honestly I'd prefer just a couple lenses and a K-3ii:
The 5 DA Ltd primes.
DA 100/2.8, DA* 300/4
DA* 60-250/4
DA 1.4x RC

And that'll please me for another year.

I'm curious, what makes people want this lens?
Also, its an f/4 for the DA* 300

I'm not sure, I just put in on there for another lens? Maybe I'll get rid of it from that list.

I knew that, somehow I was thinking wishfully.

What do you mean? As opposed to a 70-200mm f/2.8? I would assume that it is smaller and/or lighter. Does it have better IQ at 200mm than zooms?

I guess I just don't see a use for it of course that doesn't mean there isn't a use for it! I also don't see much use for 300 on FF, so I guess its just me and the things I shoot. I was just wondering for what purposes someone would want that lens...

It's 28th out of 43 Pentax lenses on B&H, ranked by best seller. I guess its got its uses, just a bit specialist. I'd understand if it was a macro

Wildlife and sports. The shutter speeds have to be high.
