Good to see Ricoh is still developing for the Q-system

So this would be about a 20mm lens in 35mm-terms? Could be nice. The 08 wide zoom is pretty expensive and the 03 fish-eye, while fun, is not the best optic, manual focus only and, well, a fish-eye. I might buy this if they release it.

If lens development is pushing through, hopefully there's also something for a new Q body

Seems there are several options they can get from Sony for a new sensor!

by the way, column 4 is pixel pitch, column 5 is max frame rate (?) and I forgot the next

It would be nice to have a new Q. I'm still using the original Q, and so far I have not gone to a newer version. However, I feel the time is ripe for an upgrade to that little loved one... I might sit things out till after the FF. Photokina would be good timing.

If this lens actually makes it into production, it's one I would consider buying for sure - depending on price, of course. I like the 02 zoom, but a fast, wide-angle lens with a smaller form factor would be very welcome indeed...

I hope Pentax will licence out the Q mount to phone companies. I would be very happy to have a phone that takes Pentax lenses. Both Q and the adapted K lenses (except large ones).

No, that would take to much effort and engineers and I don't believe Pentax will be a phone company. If they licence out the mount in stead, they could sell truckloads of Q lenses and expose the Pentax brand name to a broader audience. Existing phone brands would make the Q mount models broadly available much faster then Pentax can do alone. It will be a win for the phone companies too, because Pentax will ease their work in the camera department.

The phones should be delivered with a new very compact kit lens at 6mm f/2.

Phones are commodities nowadays. Anybody can step into it if you have the right niche. Of course they would outsource the phone part. Samsung has already patented designs with a nx-mini mount. (maybe that is their masterplan )

Pentax Q mount would make the smartphone way to big for most users. It would make the smartphone at least twice as thick (even more if using SR) + lens.
Pentax Q has a register distance of 9.2mm which is more than the thickness of many smartphones.

So smartphones with Q-mount would be a very small niche of smartphone users.
Maybe only existing Q users would like a smartphone like this as the Q-mount would as 30-50% on the price of the smartphone too.

I would certainly buy one if priced about the same as the 01, and supposing a similar product quality. The 08 is just too expensive and the 03, although fun to use, is more like a better than nothing solution.

It would be really interesting if Pentax launched an updated Q body. The Q7/Q-S1 generation really begin to look outdated relative to the competion, not even talking about the older Q/Q10.

I hope it“s a new line for Q lenses. A fast wide and a macro around 90mm on FF is a good start. And later a converter with autofocus for F/FA and DA lenses.
