Maybe they think they need to. A sharp price will help them get traction in a crowded and tough market, I think.

We need to see the features and performance of the camera before anyone can judge whether it represents value for money, of course.

Plus I'm reasonably sure that anyone interested in the camera, including [target market] pros, won't figure that the K-1 must be crippled junk simply because it comes at a great price. Even pros like a bargain.

Where did he say that? I'd be surprised if he was that specific.

But this is making me crazy. I think I'll leave this to you people.

I agree with some of the above posts - if this is with a good lens, the price is fairly low. I would expect that price for body only or maybe with DA L 18-55mm (not that this lens would be very good on a new high res FF, but cost-wise). Interesting stuff. I'll believe it when I see it on the shelves, though

Kenspo said ~2k€ Body only. No words about the kit-price yet from him I think.

Got it. Good advice. The trend should be my friend.

Out.

That combo price would for sure be a big bargain.

The price is TOO LOW. It's a VA consumer lens. It won't be a competitive body at that price. Just another me-too average FF.

Eh, I wouldn't say that. The Canon 5DIII (which the 5DS series did not replace) is about $2299 on average body-only, as is the D750. The price isn't too low, it's actually fairly competitive. It's in the low end of 5DIII/D750 range but higher than the entry level 6D/D610 range.

The D750 is $1996.95 in the US. So that is what Ricoh is after - offering something at the around same price but with more "pro" features to justify the extra couple hundred dollars...

The person who addressed the 645zprice is the one that address the k1 price. I think.
I don't know him but of course he is smart. If I could not compete good with Canon and nikon considering the features and ability I can compete very well in price.
I think he's thoughts like this.

But why put a cheap consumer lens on a Pro body aimed at pros?? €2000 seems a great price for the body only,if it is as good as D810 or better hope its with VAT the price though as 25% more would not be NICE
