You can do the work with a stenopeic box if you have to!! lol. But yes, my partner uses Nikon, and he is a lot more efficient in his numbers. Even worst, when I use he's D610 (D7100 AF sistem, not full coverage, but very fast) I have more pictures in the final selection. For example, if I use the Nikon, I have 500 photos of 3500 taken, and with the K3 I have 380 or 400. If THE photo was in those 100...."te vas a querer cortar las pelotas" (that meaning you will want to castrate youtself, not in spanish, but argentinean, lol).

Dont misundertand me, I love the K3, and I love Pentax. I just say that AF and AF.C is the principal aspect that handheld photography pros need.

This is the best picture of a burst of 12. She was DANCING alone of happiness, under my softbox, my partner was away, and I have the 70-200 with me...and I fail. AF.C would do the trick IMHO.

But I really trust K1 wil have an amazing AF. I can feel it!!
OK! It's all good!

Then we like to think we compare 51 AF point of D810 with 33 of K1 or 27 of K3 and think D810 has much more. The D810 has far less cross type AF point than even a K3.
So:
A D810 has 15 cross type sensor and 36 lines sensors, for a total of 66 lines sensor to cover the area. (each cross is 2 lines sensors).
A K3 has 25 cross type and 2 line sensor, that a total of 52 line sensors to cover the area.
A K1 would from this rumor have 33 croiss type sensors, that 66 line sensors to cover the area. Same number of sensors as D810. Exactly the same !

Ironically, the rumored AF specs of K1 and D810 mean they have the same hardware in term of line sensors but they are grouped differently. Assuming that the group of the K1 is necessarily inferior is kind of stupid. I'am sure both Nikon and Pentax choosed their design for good reason and would expect it to be a best compromize.

(...)
Indeed but the D810 autofocus is an ancient piece of hardware: it dates back to August 2007 (joint announcement of D3 and D300), eight and a half years ago, an eternity in digital ages.

The recently announced D5 and D500, and the soon (Photokina?) to be announced D820, rely on 153 AF points, including 99 cross-type sensors, hence a total of 252 line sensors if I'm following you correctly.

As long as it has a cross type center focus point, I'm good. That's 99.9% of the time the only focus point I use. It has a FF digital sensor? great. It accepts K mount lenses? super. We have a winner. All I needed to know.

Well, since for each line, there are actually two sensels, you can multiply by 2 once more. That would be 132 sensels for the K1 and 540 for the D500, whatever. Nicolas aime bien noyer le poisson.

We seem to be upping the mood for Pentax there...
Yeah, I think Zos Xavius is on PF at times. He's actually local to me, though we've never met. I see his stuff on FB a lot. Seems like a good guy.

I can't stand DPR. The comments sections are just toxic. I want to respond too sometimes, but I don't want to get sucked in.

Totally agree. So few leaked details is known, none played with the camera but the K-1 is already better or worse than this or that? Come on people... It is not only some numbers that decide if camera is good or bad. Let the camera be released and wait for first reviews.
Exactly. This is also one of the reasons that i haven't shared so much as i could have..Not only due to angry people in Japan, but also cause i know it will trigger the trolls that wants to complain and whine no matter what they deliver from the factory

I know some may be disapointed by ony 33 AF point, however I think there may be more th AF system than what we can see on the back of the LCD.
