There is a guy on DPR already complaining the ISO doesn't go down to 64 or 50 hahahaha. Yeah, that is going to make/break your photographs, buddy.

As hard as it can be, this is a good reason not to take what people say too heavily online.. because most people seem to be rather set in their ways and their friends/spouse (if they have them) won't listen to their BS, so they post it anonymously online.

Hmmm.. actually that could be seen as scary.. if that is truly how other people think.

And that is one of the many reasons I've given up on DPR.

Exactly. This is also one of the reasons that i haven't shared so much as i could have..Not only due to angry people in Japan, but also cause i know it will trigger the trolls that wants to complain and whine no matter what they deliver from the factory
It is all quite pathetic really.

Being from the Nordic area, I would have thought you would have good training on dealing with trolls:
1. Don't feed them
2. On this forum you can add them to your ignore list, which works really well

For me, enjoying a warm Southern Hemisphere summer down here in NZ, I am looking forward to seeing the specifications and learning all about the new Pentax FF camera.

I might even buy one if everything is good .

No, it won't be a Sony, Nikon, Canon, Leica, Olympus, Fuji, Sigma, Panasonic, Samsung, Phase One, or Hasselblad. It will be a Pentax, with its own unique strengths and weaknesses. If you really want one of those other types of cameras just go an buy one, and any other lenses, adapters and gear you need. Use it to make images or video. Spend your money and be happy. The End

Ross

It doesn't do ISO 50. It is dead to you.

I will start to use the ignore list in the future..hehe

I have said all along that the future is bright. They are growing and building the brand stone by stone. This is just the beginning!

I don't mean to be insensitive or go off-topic but that would take a great shot, you banging your head into the wall....play with the lighting a bit...it's not like you don't have a good camera handy...

Well, exciting specs

Let me quickly browse over some remarks I stumbled upon in the thread...

And I want this available at a moderate ISO
This is ignoring physics. Dynamic range is basically a property of light (photon shot noise in shadows vs. highlights). For it to be large, you need much light, i.e. low iso.
A camera can do worse than physics alone allows, but e.g., a D810 already comes close.

QuoteOriginally posted by jaad75 Quote
the D810 doesn't have 14.8EV dynamic range - you should look at "Screen" results instead of "Print" (which is downscaled to 8MPix).
This is nonsense. Dynamic range always depends on the spatial frequency and DxO does the only meaningful thing in their print score. "Screen DR" is irrelevant.

Having a (real) ISO setting lower than ISO 100 can be helpful to work around the speed sync limitation when using standard flash. An ISO setting of 50 would be equivalent to raising the shutter speed from 1/180s to 1/360s in terms of exposure.
Ok, I hope I am not brain dead but I think I contradict. For flash the thing is to overpower the sun. Lowering iso or aperture doesn't help here, lowering shutter does. So, IMHO the argument above does not apply. Where it does help though is with shallow DoF at sync speed and at sun light.

Well, since for each line, there are actually two sensels, you can multiply by 2 once more. That would be 132 sensels for the K1 and 540 for the D500, whatever. Nicolas aime bien noyer le poisson.
Each line sensor consists of many sensels.

I don't usually visit DPR but I thought I would see if they were posting anything about the k-1.
Here is a somewhat humorous summary from DPR:
1) Sensor is 4 year old tech, so no point in buying this camera
2) AF has only 33 AF points, not really worth using a camera this primitive
3) No joystick for changing AF point so a waste of time to get this camera
4) ISO 100 as lowest setting, not worth buying for taking real pictures
5) 925gm is too heavy for a modern camera
6) Nikon 820 is coming soon so why bother with this camera
7) Adjustable LCD cannot be folded back against the camera so it will get all scratched up
8) The LCD will be the weak point of the camera, all complaints will be about it
9) K-1 will be 24mp sensor because if it was 36 or 42mp then the crop mode would eliminate the need for APS-C cameras
10) Since Pentax is bringing out a 28-105 lens it means this camera will not target pros, only amateurs
11) Canon 5dII has all this for years, why is Pentax bothering

To be fair there are lots of good comments, and I just pulled out of context the ones that struck my eye. (Intended for humor only)

If it had 'SONY' on the front, they'd be drooling over there.

That said.. it doesn't matter.. people will speak with their wallets. That is the 'voice' that matters.
