Even this spec list, not yet containing the surprise goodies, makes me think that I will get this camera at some point. Especially as the launch price isn't very high, meaning that the camera will be affordable in my point of view (probably will drop under 2000 euros given some time).

Important good things are the sensor, new and improved shake reduction and autofocus, the tilting lcd screen, built-in GPS and wifi, pixel shift, 4K time lapse, WR (a given, but important anyway) and the new durable shutter unit (especially important for time lapse use).

Things that mean zero to me: burst rate, sync speed. Video capabilities don't mean much to me either so those specs are easily sufficient (time lapse is more important).

Negative aspects are battery life and usb 2.

Yeah, the price is very good! The stuff i see as jaw dropping, has nothing to do with the sensor etc..except one thing Most jaw dropping stuff is in hardware.

You are assuming this camera is meant to be sold for 4+ years.

Indeed I do and I stand by my statement.

If the specs sheet is accurate, this seems more like a mix between a Sony a7r and a7s with an OVF and Pentax flavoring than a simple K-mount d810e. The Sony bodies were priced very very affordably and, between the two, had similar MP count, 'low' AF focus count, frame rate speed, ISO range, sync speed...

Actual camera or model type? i.e. the casing and basic architecture could easily last 4 years but with some updates along the line i.e. K-1 II, K-1 III - my IT side of my mind would find it difficult to be restricted to USB 2.0 for 4 years when USB 3.0 and 3.1 are available eve now. Memory card technology is improving year on year and I'd daresay that the processing and memory architecture could get a useful refresh within 2 years.

Look at the life cycle of the competitors' 24x36 cameras... (Sony excepted, of course )

It doesn't need to because the system isn't stressed to the edges. It could well be that this K-1 is limited to writing 45MB/s as is K-3. And only card slot 1 is uhs-1 and not the second one.

Unfortunately, the D810's life cycle is almost up and will be updated in a few months

The K-1 is slightly taller and the flap starts lower than in the K-3.

Yeah but still it should be taller.

It's kind of amazing to contemplate how each of these individual features would need to be considered in putting this camera together, keeping in mind what the other manufacturers are or have released with what makes Pentax/Ricoh unique. For me, Pixel shift would have to evolve exponentially to even hold my attention but even better WR would be amazing as would sensor IQ at a reasonable price...Even with this release announcement, hands-on image assessment is a ways away...

I wish the battery grip improves the fps rate, though in D810 if I remember well it does only in crop mode...

Everything seems really wonderful, it's just that the initial 6,5 fps seems to be on crop mode. As I was saying not confirmed specs leaks can ruin a really great overall picture of the new FF by creating high expectations. With a buffer capacity of 17 Raws though, it wouldn't mean a lot a 2 sec burst...

Anyway sport-action-wildlife performance is not the strong point of such a beast and doesn't seem to interest many Pentaxians in here. If the AF performance and especially the AF-C tracking is great though, we will find our way to overcome the unavoidable shortcomings a huge sensor carries...

its on board for sure. no rumor anymore, since they stated the astro thing on the teaser website

Don't care about USB 2.0 (only use card in Macbook), but I am pretty pretty sure this is a typo of the leaker
