Glad you are here to say that. My supposition for years has been Ricoh would take the conservative, long view, patiently growing the brand at a constant rate - they have a Plan - as they did with office machines.

Unfortunately for the impatient, in the early stages growth isn't really visible in nominal progression. It's in the later stages, due to the law of compounding, that constant growth begets parabolic nominal increase.

Yes, thank you. I bet something like that is used in K-1. And imagine what you would get with a medium format camera!
The other patent is also interesting. I wonder if it allows the camera to self adjust lenses, removing the need tuning by the user?

That flippy screen is wild.
I can't understand why it needs to do all that.
I can't wait to see reviews showing this flippy LCD thing.
They say its the weak point... anyhow could also be the missing part we all waited for

What we still would like to know in more detail.... and will probably know only after the official release:

AF speed with new lenses and tracking speed...
What type of AF engine can we expect in the future? Pentax SDM, Tamron USD, ...
AF tracking with additional metering sensor...
Layout of AF sensors and light sensitivity. 33 points may be a lot in combination with some points in between or tracking via metering sensor.
SR performance - Pentax claims a much improved SR mechanism.
Any feature that makes the new Pentax stand puot against other brands.

Whoever 'they' are. From a mechanical engineer's perspective the articulating screen presents both potential benefits and challenges. The resulting facts depend on many factors regarding application, design, and implementation. The resulting facts will speak for themselves soon enough. I'm standing on the side of placing some trust in Pentax-Ricoh that they have sorted things out well enough to go this route

Whoever they are of course trolls and bashers?!

I am also on Ricohs side and think they have thought this through and as it was stated earlier: They have a plan. Three days to go. Oh boy...

Contrary to many commenters, the articulated screen design appears very sturdy/robust to me. I too am an engineer. My main concern with its design is grit and sand getting into what I'm calling the "ball and socket channels" potentially grinding things to a halt. At least it will be wr body allowing for a rinse if needed.

Has there been any indication that the K-1 will have the pixel-shift feature?

Officialy? No, but as the K3v2 have that feature, everyone think (myself included) that the K1 being a flagship camera this feature must be a standar spec.

I hope you guys are right. I think it's a marketable difference for Pentax.

I am quoting here this very interesting message from DragonLord, which recently drew my attention and which is perfectly relevant re. K-1's autofocus:

The two extra columns would be enabled on K-1, each for three AF points, thus giving a total of 27 + 3 + 3 = 33 AF points as observed.

Judging by the spacing of the two brackets inscribed on the focusing screen of K-1, as seen by reflection on the mirror and which most likely correspond to the outer AF points (as with other Pentax cameras), it seems that Ricoh Imaging has found a way to enlarge the AF points coverage compared to what the K-3 II module would spontaneously produce on K-1. IIRC Ricoh had filed a patent on this.
Could be. But why are there only 3 extra points for each of the extra columns? Does that mean, the extra points will have a sensitivity of 2.8? Because otherwise there surely could have been 5+5 = 10 extra points?

And why there were only 2 big excentred points, more like 2 excentred line in fact ,on K3 or K5? Why also not having say, 20 points per lines and 30 lines.

With this kind of question, we never end !

People who never handled the camera, never saw anything but some pictures of the mechanism.
