Hmmmm, speculations...

Some time ago they had a patent including a small video camera in the prism providing Live View through the focussing screen. That would be nice...

That was badly explained by me. Im not talking about the FF AF-C..but K-3/K-3II compared to the competition the AF on K-1 will have a totally new AF module..not a rebuild one.

That what I thought. How could you know the K-1 AF performance if you didn't have a chance to get it in your hands and had to call Ricoh to know the specs...

What's wrong with you people?

I know it's too easy to expect any company to do technological wonders by waving a wand and be cynical or frustrated when they don't, but I'f be interested to know what it is, in the opinion of people who understand these things (that rules me out) what it is that has held Pentax back in AF for so long (other than lack of investment, which i know is big one). I've often wondered whether it wasn't partly a price paid for backwards compatibility (I know Nikon have it to, but they might have been more fortunate for some reason in their original mount) - maybe hanging onto screw drive for too long? There is one point that I've noticed though, which is nothing to do with that, and that is that Pentax AF has always had a tendency to, if in doubt, go straight to close focus - which often results in heading off in completely the wrong direction. Even basic Canons I've played with don't do this - they are much more likely to head off in the right direction. Why should that be?

There are posts that I take with a grain of salt and posts I take very serious, depending on the person I talk (write) to. There are a few people on this forum obsessed with technical and mathematical informations and there are people which are speaking (writing) based on real life scenarios. Some are throwing mathematical statistics as arguments in their "debate" with other forum members and the other will provide real life examples from their personal experiences. I do prefer the second kind of people.

That being said, from the specs we know about the upcoming Pentax full frame it's an interesting camera at a very good "known" price.

Just been an hour in the phone with Ricoh..Now i know ALL specs and little features. There are a few minor disappointments..but there will be some new features that will make your jaw drop..and that no other brand has on their pro cameras. So get ready for some neat surprises
The key here is “that no other brand has on their pro cameras.”, notice “on their PRO cameras” thus the functions are common on their lower end consumer cameras. Functions such as “beautify filters”, “pet recognition”, “face recognition”, ”smile detection”, “scenery selection”, “selfie mode” and so on. All unknown functions on pro cameras, until now.
