If it now turns out that it's not gonna be called K-1, I will laugh long and hard.

Very nice pictures. I guess the top part of the camera is made of plastic since it isn’t shown in the stripped down view. But it’s probably a must in order for the gps and wifi to work.

Some of the pictures above have EXIF data. Did you notice they were shot with a 645Z? They are listening!

I see the top lcd has the important information, compressed but readable.

They didn't change the AF button position on the new battery grip to match the one on the body? "All the pros" didn't tell them?
Agreed.

Overall, it does look great, with a lot of direct control. A couple of thoughts though:
  1. It's different enough from the K-3 to make shooting the two bodies together a bit challenging. No different than shooting the K-3 and K-5 together, which is manageable.
  2. Unfortunate that the focus point selection is still tied to other controls. Not a lot of real estate back there to separate them though.
  3. What's that Sun icon on the bottom of the four-way controller?
  4. Info screen does not suggest that it has been changed for a touch display
I'm not planning to get one right away but this is pretty cool!

It has become clear by now that our long awaited and beloved FF by Pentax does not have any groundbreaking features and that Ricoh is taking an extremely aggressive strategy price-wise with a feature-laden camera. Given my limited funds, I don't mind that approach. No, Sir.

BTW illuminated backside buttons is really something all cameras should have, and yet very few do. Good move, Pentax. Not really sure yet about illuminating the mount and the SD card slots if its tacky or subzero cool.

There is no obvious way to turn on video. Yet a mystery to be solved.

There's a lever dedicated to that.

Yes there is. There's a lever beneath the adjustment wheel on right side of the camera, next to the prism hump.

The K-1 SR mechanism looks very compact. Doesn't look much different from K-3 in size or design.

So much for all the scare mongering about FF shake reduction needing to be huge, difficult to fit in a compact FF body etc etc.
