Releasing rebadge lenses i think that is an effective and easy way for Pentax to catch up with the other FF manufactures, i dont know if they could have the enough resources to develop a system such as FF all at ones, as long as the lenses are doing great IQ i would't mind to see more rebadge lenses along with some of their own. The 15-30 as far as we can tell is a great lense.

The 15-30mm f/2.8 being designed and manufactured by Tamron will most certainly be released when announced . The 28-105mm, on the other hand... Except if it's subcontracted too, of course.
Perhaps, yet they have released numerous 28-105s in the past (SMC-Pentax FA 28-105mm F4-5.6 Reviews - FA Zoom Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database as one). I think that is why it is a 28-105 and not a more modern 28-135 like you get in other brands.. they likely just modified an old build.

Especially if the 'rebadged' lenses are designs created by former Pentax optical engineers, with the basic design licensed and WR, HD coating, quick shift and Ghostless where appropriate added by Ricoh.

If they should also contract out assembly to said third-party it could be almost a like partnership or a business plan or something.

Or something.

In some ways, I would prefer a Pentax natively designed wide angle lens. That said, if Pentax is going to rebadge a lens, they could certainly do a whole lot worse than the Tamron. Since Hoya showed Jun Hirakawa the door, way back when, who then joined Tamron - it would be nice to find that he might have played a part in this lens. Perhaps he was able to sneak some pixy dust in to the design. It certainly does compare VERY favorably with the Nikon 14-24/f2.8 with the reputation of being one of the very best wide angle lenses designed. Sharpness is not everything. Reviews show a very nicely balanced lens across all of its characteristics. Plus, it is also WR.

The Tamron goes for $1200, with the Nikon going for $1900 - so hopefully, Pentax will price is more in line with the Tamron.

While I certainly want Pentax to develop and market so of its own lenses, this is I ne of the cases where using an already proven high value lens makes a lot of sense.

Frankly, there are too many lenses for Canikon in some categories. Too many models means higher prices due to market fragmentation,

More is not always better. Look at Apple, Costco, Aldi's and the new General Motors.

Neither does the comparable Nikon or Tokina lenses.. I think the Sigma does however but it is a bit cumbersome. There are ways around it though I see..

It's apparently an original design but perhaps not one from Ricoh Imaging. I'm currently digging into it.

I don't think market fragmentation holds a candle to scarcity of models for a reason for higher prices, and I don't believe that there's nearly enough market fragmentation caused by the amount of lenses to move the needle on prices.

I would imagine it will be priced very similar the Tamron, like the 24-70mm

In addition to the large number of full frames lens already in existence, maybe the choice to develop a mirrored FF (instead of mirrorless) was also made because they wouldn't have to develop so many lenses for launch (they can pilfer them from Tamaron).

No, it's because we want a FF DSLR not mirrorless...

Everybody:

STOP GOING ON ABOUT MIRRORLESS!!!

If you want mirrorless go buy some Sony (word cannot be displayed on public forum) and Otis will love to see you jump and go SPLAT.

The Tamron lens scares me. I personally have not had any luck with any Tamron lens. I hope Pentax has forced them to up their quality. I can't see myself getting one.
