Eh? I recall reading somewhere that the finest grained color film in 135 format could achieve roughly 24 MP equivalence under ideal conditions, and it seems like 6 MP is perhaps more typical for common color negative daylight film.

Regardless of that, I'm all for digging out the vintage glass and shooting with it. We just need a proper focusing screen.

Could this be an updated version of the smc 28-105 f/3.2-5.6, although they would have to use some type of coating, likely HD.
I don't know such lens. There were 28-105/4-5.6 and 28-105/3.2-4.5.

According to Wikipedia:
A 36 mm x 24 mm frame of ISO 100-speed film was initially estimated to contain the equivalent of 20 million pixels,[6] although this estimate was later revised to between 4 and 16 million pixels depending on the type of film used.[7]

And the source :-)

I'm sure the Tamron lenses are on par optically, but does anyone have knowledge of the build quality? The below link provides an interesting comparison across a few companies.

Perhaps that's already there too.

That looks very similar in design to other other recent mid-range Pentax Zooms. It actually looks a bit shorter than the DA16-85 and a bit longer than the DA 18-135 - (I counted the stipples on the waffle grip, 22:24). It's also interesting that it seems to have a green ring at the front, unless it's just a trick of the light in that photo.

Most, if not all recent Pentax-branded lenses have a green ring, including HD DA 18-50mm f/4-5.6, HD D FA 150-450mm, HD D FA 24-70 and smc D FA645 35mm f/3.5 (a first for a 645 lens, if I'm not mistaken).

This may help:

Don't confuse film is a capture medium and print.

That lens is quite the perfect predicted kit I hoped for.

7-blades diaphragm, sharp at centre at all apertures and across the frame from f5.6-8 and price 600 USD - cool FF kit lens.

Looks like Tamron should know a lot about Pentax gear these days - we had a couple posts starting with information from the Tamrom rep saying something.... well, he probably does know a lot.
Rebadging Tamron is better than no extreme zooms or buying 3rd party zooms that are not fully supported... Let's see what kind of fixed focal length lenses we can expect after a roadmap update. The Tamron 1.8/35 would be a nice addition as well as a rumored 1.4/85 stabilized by the camera. What I still wonder the most about is the 2.8/70-200... for a Tamron design it is too expensive and too heavy.
