Pentax should take note of how to launch a new lens. Dozens of very nice images taken by real photographers.

Yes it would be nice if 1st party companies took note, however with Laowa being so new at the moment they really need all the press they can get, people won't and aren't just buying their products on reputation alone, yet with first party companies this happens more often then you might care to think.

Anyone interested in this lens? BHP says it's available next month. The price though....

I'm considering it. As I work in architecture, it tends to be one of the things I photograph outside of work, so the very low distortion has a definite appeal.

One shame is their shift functionality ("magicshift" ) is apparently only for E-mount users, for this lens - whereas their 15mm f4 (which I have) has shift functionality for all mounts, when used with APS-c sensors. Can't have everything I suppose.

I probably will wait to see a review of the forthcoming Irix 11mm f4 before deciding.

That's a good challenger for IRIX 11/4

Dark grey cold rainy weather here. Maybe over the weekend. Testshots out of the window seem to look good.

The Irix 11mm (I tested it on photokina) again is a clunky lens compared to this one (and obviously a full stop slower). Optically not better.
From a prime I want small size, so I am more inclined to carry it.

I would agree, particularly if IQ is no worse or even better

It's a "lens with few flaws". Check out Dustin Abbott's review in two parts:

Yes, it works like a Pentax A series lens.

My personal dream is Pentax to publish a very compact DFA 24/2.8 next so I could have a supersexy very, very portable 12/24/77mm lens setup covering everything (extendable by the 35mm Macro). Those lenses together you could pack into various pockets of your jacket and just carry the cam.
