Replaced by the green one since last year (HD DFA 150-450, HD DA 18-50 RE, HD D-FA 24-70 and 70-200, ...).

...and Ricoh are listening to their customers: no Ricoh tag on the back of the Pentax cameras anymore, no red ring anymore.

Is that official?? So, my red-ring HD lens will be sought after in the future, a rare variant. Awesome! I actually like the red ring...

Not official in the 'confirmed by a statement by a duly authorised representative' sense but all the latest HD lenses have a green ring instead of a red one: HD D FA★ 70-200mm f/2.8 ED DC AW, HD D FA 150-450mm f/4.5-5.6 ED DC AW, HD DA 18-50mm f/4-5.6 DC WR RE and HD D FA 24-70 mm f/2.8 ED SDM WR in 2015 and now HD D FA 15-30mm f/2.8 ED SDM WR and HD D FA 28-105mm f/3.5-5.6 ED DC WR.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how this lens performs.
Is the weight known yet? It wasn't mentioned in the digicame specs.

If this is a good lens, kits with this lens will be a terrific selling point for amateurs. Just think how useful it will be to own this lens with WR and DC as a general purpose walk-arond lens if you e.g. already have a collection of nice K-mount primes.

So do I. Looks great on my HD DA 55-300 WR. And for the sake of consistency they could have just kept it instead of changing this sort of stuff every couple of years ...

Green has been used a bit longer than red and it is not the same colour Canon uses.

Canon isn't the only lens brand that has red rings. Rokinon, for one, has a red ring on every lens.

complain complain complain some only know how to complain...they want pentax do everything nikon and canon but at half price....that's why most people didn't buy ff camera and lenses from canon....it was money....now that pentax come out with a good proposal at very good price...the 24-70 cost less than half....they complain cause the kit zoom lens is shorter...they not even consider that probably the canikon 24-120 cost double....they want all at half price....
i expect big rant for lens af even price...
I'm one of the "complainers" but my reasoning is different. I want Rioch to do things different from Canikon!

Why flood the market with the same old 24-70mm, 70-200mm, and looks like they want to be "different" releasing a 15-30. Heck, only one of them is a FDA* and that to me is even strange.. How can we copy Canikon now if we have a weak attempt at emulating their holy trinity...

Instead, why not be DIFFERENT and bring back classic primes. 31mm, 43mm, 77mm were a hit with film... and when you re-release them, don't fudge them up like what these current new Tamron rebadges look like. External design to me also says a lot about the "personality" of the brand and these new lenses are offensively boring and almost taking a page from Fuji's lenses.

All I am saying is you can't flood the market, especially, especially with what Canikon has seen before. Ricoh needs to shake things up dramatically if they expect to make some noise coming in late to the party...

But RokiBowYang wants to look like Canon!

I think Ricoh wanted to use their corporate color (red) to show the change in ownership, and never suspected just how inflexible Pentaxians are.

Ricoh has so far been a good corporate steward. Their logo on my K-3 is completely inoffensive and the silver boxes (instead of tan pulp) with RICOH emblazoned are pretty slick.

Pentax letters are also red. But the green is a nice fresh colour. Nikon has tacky gold. Blue is up for grabs since Samsung stopped though.
