Camera and synths need different interfaces. Synths aren't commonly used outdoors in the cold while wearing gloves, and lighted controls for synths don't have to consider preserving night vision.

Manual shutter works fine today. If 25 seconds is underexposed increase to the next breakpoint, 30 seconds. No one is clamoring for 26, 27, 28, 29 second settings. Jumps in the shutter speed are adequate when you're exposing for several minutes. I don't think any photographers would say "that 180 second photo looks a little underexposed, let me redo it with a 181 second shutter". If 180 is too short, 210 or 240 seems fine as the next step

Think about it. If shutter needs to be continuously variable, should the same be done with aperture and ISO? Do away with the 1/3 stops and allow us to set f/11.0, f/11.1, f/11.2, etc. ISO 6400 looks too noisy so I'll use ISO 6399. That seems like a user interface nightmare using buttons or knobs; we need thought-controlled cameras.

If you need 28.45437 seconds instead of 25 or 30, get an LX.

Why more expensive? Was a price already mentioned? Why should video making it that much more expensive, the tech is inside already. The only reason such feautures make other cameras THAT more expensive, is because they have other products they need to protect. You know yourself that 645z argument is silly I guess

They could easily do it. There are people who jump ship to the trucks. Nobody cares.

Bad comparison. In this case, you could add a feature WITHOUT changing or influencing any of the other features! Btw Im sure Porsche could built a truck and sell it, their SUVs are selling like hot chocolate

Yes it was.
AFAIK there's no 4K-capable "full frame" camera under $3000. For the K-1, this probably meant a different sensor (the 42MP one) and likely a beefier hardware (memory, writing speeds etc.).

At this time Pentax seems to have conceded leading video to other brands. Aside from the problem with audible IBIS movement noise, whatever unknown software/hardware issues they have, or feature substitutions they have made seem to be made. Endlessly arguing video is free does nothing. If it was 'free' they'd do it.

Either accept it or move on.

Accepted. K1 still looks gorgeous, hate the body design of the other brands, especially the mirrorless ones. Like we say in Germany: There is not an ultlimate "Eierlegendewollmilchsau", still sad

We all know what 4K video brought the legendary Samsung NX-1 Fuji is also omitting it from the X-pro2 though the chip is capable of it. If the K-1 Contains the socionext Milbeaut m-8m
It could do 30p 4k video. Then Pentax chose not to make use of it (nor 120p 1080p). Maybe the sensor won't allow it or only in crop mode.

Yeah, that's what's been said in other threads, presuming it is a variant of the D810 sensor.
