I wish they made it to the standard 1/250. I just don't see why not. Even Fujifilm brought it up from 1/180 to 1/250. But 1/200 is better than nothing

K-1 will be closer to 1200 bucks in a couple of years if it is anything like what Sony did with the A7.. and less used... this K-1 is only the first digital FF body from Pentax.. surely there will be more..

Am I the only one how thinks 6.5 FPS in APS-C Mode (16MP) with the next generation processor is strange, if compared to the older processor in the K3-II (24MP) delivering 8.3 FPS?
Even in APS-C mode it still has to move a much bigger mirror and shutter for each frame.

And it probably has to read out more of the sensor than just the crop. From the top of the sensor until the bottom of the aps-c crop and then crop out the crop.

What do you photograph that changes more than four times per second?? I sometimes photograph trains going 50 mph, and I find that my K-30 set at the lower burst rate (3 fps) is more than enough to get the picture I want (assuming I remember to set it to burst at all).
I too photograph trains, going at merely 25 mph. With a long run past, it is easy to rack up 24 shots (current RAW buffer for K3) in short burst of 5 or 6 frames. 4fps is less of an issue than 17 shot buffer I had hoped for an increase in processing power to accommodate the larger number of pixels per image. Plus ensuring a decent shot with "rods down*" is not that easy, even at 8fps!!

You can. It's called bulb mode.
Duh, that's not even convenient for long exposure.

Hmm actually why don't we have configurable times for shutter length and self-timer? just an X value that can be adjusted with a wheel?

Very nice specs. They sort of went right down the middle. Me personally, it is a bit over the top. I don't need all that you know. More of a curiosity in regards to how FA limiteds may perform with this sensor size.

Nonetheless, it is very much an exciting time for Pentax. I applaud their effort. I think they have done very well.

Why not? You use a remote that costs maybe $20, set the delay, the time of exposure and push the button. What am I missing?

The big thing I would absolutely love is if the camera will allow the hot shoe to be triggered at any shutter speed regardless if it's within the sync speed or not.
what for?

So, you were "pacing" {driving parallel to the train} when you took this picture?

{BTW - thank you for an image to enjoy in the middle of this sometimes dry discussion}

How's that 0.7x in FF compare to current K series (area wise)?
Film cameras still kick the crap out of digital SLR viewfinders.

But I see what Pentax is up to now, and my have they been clever.

and end up with this:

Pentax K5IIs - Sigma 180mm f/3.5 APO EX - ISO 80 f/11 flash sync at 1/500th - the shadow is being cast by the second shutter curtain.
