Compared to the DA15 they all
sucked.
In all seriousness, the Nikkors with their highly advanced nano crystal coat AR technologies held a distinct advantage over the Tamron lens. I'll admit my flare testing wasn't thorough: there are about 16 types of flare a lens can suffer from, and setting up the lighting that typically provokes them can be difficult, so I just covered the basics.
Hopefully Pentax will seek to remedy this by employing their own coating technologies, that would provide a welcome boost to the IQ from the Tamron 15-30mm f/2.8. But all things considered I have seen worse flare tolerance from lenses in this focal length range, compared to the aforementioned lenses I tested: the sigma 12-24mm is a
disaster.
