I see Because of the certainty, I assume you know more than most of us here.

If they work well, the handheld pixel shift & hdr are really something else! Still also hoping for faster implementation of the individual shots in pixel shift, thus reducing artifacts in scenes with some movement.

I presume it's a trademark like 'Accumate' for Minolta and Hasselblad.

Euro and dollar had been quite close but now dollar = .90 euro.

So $1799usd is 1999 euro. Hmm that fits amazingly close.....................

Not sure how tax affects this. In USA prices have no tax. Not sure in Europe..
Assuming .90 euro = $1usd wouldn't 1999 euro convert to $2234usd?

European listed prices include VAT (value-added tax). Most common rates are around 20%. US listed prices don't include sales tax.

€1,999 (incl. VAT) = €1,666 (excl. VAT) = $1,860.

This might be a dumb question but i have never preorder a product so... when you pre-order something (lets say the K1) at BH, Amazon, or whatever... you dont pay the price until the camera is ready to ship right? or is there any sort of fee in order to pre-order a product??

Once again sorry, i havent pre-order anything but with all this K1 price (that we dont know yet for sure) I might be close to lose my virginity

From what I remember Amazon and Adorama do not charge anything until they actually ship, but BH does or at least puts a hold on the amount.
There are no fees and if you change your mind before it ships you can always call them and cancel the order

But generally each store has different policy and also it might depend on what kind of payment (credit card / paypal / etc) so better check the specific terms and conditions

New price?? $1799 according to photo rumors

Also $1449 for the 15-30mm and $499 for the 28-105mm.
We can hope that these prices are correct. If they are, and they can make a profit at that level, it's a very aggressive and canny move from Ricoh.

Normally, if a new player undercuts an established market leader with a new product, the established company might react my dropping their price to match. However, Canon and Nikon are not going to do that in reaction to a Pentax move, since Pentax is barely a gnat to them. They will believe they can ignore the gnat and lose very little market share whilst maintaining margins. That will allow Pentax to gain a (to them) substantial toe-hold. That is, IF the prices are right and the camera is as good as we expect ...

We live in interesting times.

Please consider that:
  1. ¥250,000 includes 8% CT (consumption tax) as clearly specified by Digital Camera Info: (税込) and is therefore equivalent to $2,039, not $2,216 and definitely not "more than $2,500"
  2. Japanese companies very often charge higher prices in Japan than for export.
