The eagle has landed

... in Berlin, Germany.

Hey mate, German is a funny language. Maybe you have a little misspelling

"diekameradieallegetränkewiderstehenkann"
<nitpicking>
Actually, "correct" in some ways would be "diekameradieallengetränkenwiederstehenkann" (the camera that can resist all kind of beverages), but not as a compound word. In fact, that won't be compounded at all, even though german is the great language of compounding.
We've invented that! Or sue anyone saying different.

And, to be really annoyingly precise, SLR stands for "Einäugige Spiegelreflexkamera" (one-eyed mirror-reflex camera), whilst TLR is a "Zweiäugige Spiegelregflexkamera" (double- or two-eyed mirror reflex camera) and DSLR is a "digitale Spiegelreflexkamera", without discerning eyedness (no wonder, a DTLR would be some kind of invisible pink elephant).

But we're less precise when talking about banks and benches. Same word ("Bank") in german, except in the plural ("Bänke" - benches, "Banken" - banks).
</nitpicking>

Yep. Enough of that, back to fiddling and thumbing all the knobs and wheels ... new toy, won't be heard of for the next weeks to come ...

Looks like Canada and the U.S. will be the last Northern Hemisphere countries to receive the K-1.

Off-topic while I wait for the unicorn to reach the periphery that is Finland.

I take exception to that. You may say German is a great language to compounding, but don't you dare to put down Finnish :P.

Here is one of the shorter ones: "peruspalveluliikelaitoskuntayhtymä" translates to "Municipal consortium health and social services utility". And that's normal mind you (and without the numerous inflected forms that often add to the word length in Finnish). There are longer ones and if you go for the more contrived ones you get something like "atomiydinenergiareaktorigeneraattorilauhduttajaturbiiniratasvaihde", which is basically a turbine transmission part in a nuclear power plant (it really exists, not made up).

EDIT:
For brownie points, the longest non-compound, constructed word in Finnish is: "kumarreksituteskenteleentuvaisehkollaismaisekkuudellisenneskenteluttelemattomammuuksissansakaankopahan ". Not that it actually was used or usable, but it's still a grammatically valid word.

Well if that's the case, he would only need to steal one to replace his Nikon, right? (more joking)

I heard that the one unit destined for Canada is on it's way.

On another note, is the picture in post # 1209 the first cat taken with a K-1?

Hope everyone enjoys their K-1!

I'm tremendously sorry and can but admit my complete and utter ignorance of that beautiful language. No offence meant in any way.

Played with a K-1 in the Ricoh/Pentax offical showroom in Shinjuku, Tokyo on Monday. It's real and not just a figment of our fevered imaginations!

The 15-30 was there as well to use.
