I think it's time for Ron to put his money where his mouth is and go support Sigma...

Yay! The test shots look wonderful. Quite a bit more detail than D810 at ISO 25600 (see the thin white lines on the italian oil bottle!), but if both are out-of-camera JPEGs then JPEG to JPEG comparision isn't really very useful, the D810 appears to apply more heavy-handed noise reduction.

Just want to show you a photo with a cheap lens, the smc PENTAX-F 1:4-5.6 35-80 mm. JPG straight from the K-1. Senterfocused on the roofedge of the church at the middle of the church.

Wow, that is a cheap lens. It even rotated the image 90.

It was rotated in PIXresizer, I didn't bother to redo it.

On several occasions I have posted a vertically oriented picture that is rotated like that here, but displayed correctly correctly on my computer and other places.

Looks good but corners are soft, even at F11. I guess we need to find out the full frame gems from those old zooms.

I agree... having said that, for the right subject matter and composition, those soft corners needn't be an issue... It limits the applications of the lens, but the centre looks good. I think you could still have a lot of fun and some great results with this lens in the right situations

He's about 10 years to late to be jumping on the APS-H format bandwagon, with FF being so cheap/more affordable nowadays (less then 2 G's for a new 36mp, less than 1G for a used FF).

No alias: Pentax K-1 Pixel Shift shows impressive early results: Digital Photography Review

dpreview published their studio test (using the wrong lens FA77 is great but not for ultimate sharpness especially corners). The good news is it looks at least half a stop better at high iso as the d810.
