Just got an e-mail from a UK supplier - launch price here for body only is £1,599, or £1,698 with the optional battery grip (discounted by £130 as a promotion). Impressive... considering UK pricing, I think it's *very* good value for money...

Imagine the price in 12 - 18 months' time

Nice price. It will be interesting to see the first hands-on reviews. I notice it took all of 15 minutes for the disparagement to start, in some quarters.

Sad no 1080p/60 - any idea if we can get a clean HDMI out?
The good thing is that I will probably buy a K1 anyway, since I have been waiting since the dawn of the millennium.
At $1779 it shouldn't break the bank - probably $2k with grip.

That was scary PF crashing and not being able to read that!
The server didn't crash, exactly, I'm guessing ... but it was working very hard. Fortunately, the Popular Photography and DRReview sites were less of a problem; I found their early news to be informative and encouraging.

Over at the other forum, they mounted the m50 f/2 on front for the cover photo... Kind of weird and deceptive.

For the few features that were sacrificed, the price more than makes up for it. $1800 is very, very nice. I think it will tempt some of those kit-lens only buyers of other brands looking to step up.

Well they have to have somebody to 'other' so the CaNiSoLympus folks can be cool, cool kiddies.

That's how it works, isn't it?

Perhaps they were trying to express the continuity of Pentax support for their old lenses(?)

Weirdly deceptive, especially using a lens well known to be not the best, the 50 f/2.0. "that a 36MP sensor is likely to be fairly demanding on older glass, and our initial impressions of shooting with one older 50mm Pentax prime aren't wholly encouraging." If they wanted to use an el-cheapo lens, why didn't they use any of the 1.7, 1.4, 55mm 1.8? Who knows.

Can someone tell me which of the specifications are "jaw dropping"?

Will go to my local dealer tomorrow and ask if I can pre-order it here to.
Not even sure since I've recently switched my go to shop because the chief in the other one laughed at all my lenses being manual (?!)
