Weirdly deceptive, especially using a lens well known to be not the best, the 50 f/2.0. "that a 36MP sensor is likely to be fairly demanding on older glass, and our initial impressions of shooting with one older 50mm Pentax prime aren't wholly encouraging." If they wanted to use an el-cheapo lens, why didn't they use any of the 1.7, 1.4, 55mm 1.8? Who knows.
I sold those f/2 lenses back in the day - going only on the K1000 as kits. The faster lenses were better in every way, and went on the better bodies. Not that the f/2 is terrible - no worse than the FD Canon 50 f/1.8 frankly. But no one in their right mind will put an f/2 on that camera. Besides, the smaller optical surface on the lens conveys a larger camera than it is. If it was posted deep in the preview, then almost excusable. As the main image up top, I'd say it was boneheaded (as in mindless), or calculated in a destructive way.

All of them, at this price. Ricoh clearly isn't aiming to have the very-highest-spec FF camera bar none... Instead, they're offering what Pentax enthusiasts have been after for a *long* time, at a much more attractive price than most of us expected. I think it's a very smart move on Ricoh's part. I'm not even in the market for the FF in the near future, but I'm still impressed...

Cameras will keep adding features, forget about the tech game, and enjoy what appears to be an amazing value! I think a lot of people will be happy with this.

It looks great. I've gone from being a die-hard film shooter not interested in digital, to an enthusiastic APS-C digital user not interested in a larger format, to being very excited about this camera thanks to its great-looking specification and price. I'm going to study in Japan for a year as part of my Japanese degree from September, so the return of the deposit on the flat I'll be leaving, plus some work over the summer, and maybe a little man maths, should leave me able to stroll into a branch of Yodobashi Camera when I arrive and add the K-1 to my kit.

We owe Ricoh for this one. I know it's been a long time coming and there's been a lot of frustration and tears and - dare I say it - doom, but they have delivered, with an attractive product at a good price. It ain't gonna take the whole market in one swoop, but it's no doubt a competitive entry into a competitive sector that we as Pentax users can be proud of.

What about "K" lenses?

I can't believe Ricoh Imaging Canada's website already has been updated with K-1 info. During the Hoya era that website had cobwebs.

"The Camera Store" (Calgary) website is already taking pre-orders ($2499 CAD, pretty much straight exchange for the US price). Henry's website is so far ignoring the K-1 announcement (they have carried very little Pentax stock for the last couple of years - most Pentax items are special order).
Not on the french Canadian Site thought... http://ricoh-imaging.ca/fr/products/

Lozeau in Montréal has it listed: https://www.lozeau.com/produits/appareils-photo/reflex/boitier-pentax-k-1/

After all this time, Pentax has finally done what so many have longed for. Frankly, I was not among them - I never felt a need for FF, but at 1800 bucks: why not?

I'd also wondered about that.
Would you have preferred that they come up with something more advanced and charge £2,000+, like the Nikon D810A - or even more advanced still and charge £5,000+ like the D5? Personally, I wouldn't - I think they've played this just right. Ricoh certainly won't please everyone with the K-1, but as I said before, they're giving most Pentax users what they wanted - a good, solid FF offering at a very competitive price that isn't such a stretch for existing APS-C owners...
