Wow!

It looks like they nailed it. A great camera at a phenomenal price. At that price I suspect that they will get a lot of early adopters.

Thanks Ricoh!

Albert Siegel has posted some sample pictures that he took with his pre production camera. Below is the link if someone want to see them.

Albert Siegel: Pentax K-1 sample photos

Also sample images by DP Review

Images of ISO 6400 and 12800 look pretty clean with no noise.

Wow, I was out all day, logging in after supper to my hangout to find the official K-1 announcement, my heart almost skipped a beat! The price point is certainly very attractive, not that I can afford one but a couple of years down the road, should be doable then. Thanks Ricoh!

It's an amazing coincidence that I bought a new computer today with a 1Tb drive. Really!! Who knew Amazon would knock $150 off the "K-1 Edition" Acer box today?

Amazing! Can't wait to get this camera!

On DPR Richard Butler confirmed directly to my comment that -3EV and f2.8 sensitivity was limted to the center three vertical cross points.

I thought the -3EV AF was on all point? He said that Ricoh confirmed just on the three points

DPR posted raw samples. Adobe is able to open them. Score one for DNG format consistency!

I have resisted "wanting" a FF and being a part of all the frenzy... 'till now...

Seems like an absolute winner! Without a question a game changer regarding the feature set and price point.

Video features lacking? I do not give a hoot. The only types of video that I would care about are time lapse 4K and very high frame rate full HD that allows proper slow motion (i.e. 100-250 frames per second). This camera serves the former need and no dslr in it's class serves the latter. Different tools for different jobs.

As expected with the specs, it's decent, and seems very capable with nifty features other brands don't have. Kudos for Pentax to bring this out even they know competition is strong and they have less money to play with and smaller user base to support it, it needs to be recognised in the wider photographic community as a whole.

Also as a long term Sony/Minolta user as well, I felt this is so because Sony haven't show much sureness to continue the legacy they have inherited with Minolta's Alpha mount. When they brought the A900 in 2008 ( which I also think the K-1 looks similar with, brother from another mother I guess :P ), it was headline news Sony made their first full-frame DSLR and the first full frame DSLR with IBIS with the highest resolution sensor out then, it was all glory and all, and now the future for the mount is unsure.... but Pentax pressed on with their legacy, well done!

Anyway, yes on paper the K-1 might not beat the CaNikon offerings ( I have seem complains about only 33 AF points, USB 2, 1/200 flash sync speed, no UHS-II, 4.4 frame per/sec contentious shooting, 0.7x magnification OVF only etc etc, yes those ain't they best on paper comparing to others, but surely they are adequate for most users) and it may be hard to convince CaNikon full-frame users to convert; but surely with the sharp price range of D610 and 6D and the feature it has, and this is pretty good food for thought for not just K mount users with lots of legacy lenses, but also old school Sony/Minolta users that didn't jump to DSLT and A7 series( because of EVF), and it may be a good alternative option for any branded APSC DSLR users who wants to go full-frame and needs to get rid of all their APSC lenses and re-invest. Just my 2 cents.
