Thus my experience is that I would like to have several OOTB "crops" supported, not just 1.5x crop.
You can set the output aspect ratio for JPEG and video as you can with other Pentax bodies. As I recall the support output ratios are 1:1, 4:3, 16:9 and a couple others. They are probably the same as the K-3/K-3ii.

US ads have started

The May Pop Photo has a two page opening spread ad for the K1 and a back cover ad for the K1.

Setting output aspect ratio is far different than having a framing tool at the time of capture. I would concur that in-camera framing tools can greatly assist the artistic eye / resources of the photographer- much more so than just having to rely on shoot wide and post-process crop.

JPEG is good, but nothing to say about RAW - how to open PEF?
Fastone Viewer is a great all-purpose editor/viewer. Price is right.

Just wait a week and take everything until April 25th with salt. Production units aren't officially shipped yet, are they? Test unit posts are either violations of NDA or they aren't production test units, right?
Right, but situation is that we have all the same just now.
During PhotoForum-2016, best Russian annual photo event, official distributor have delivered production version of the camera.
At first two days we had an opportunity to try pre-production version of K-1, and had no chance to put SD-card into it.
But at Saturday, April 16, they give us camera delivered from Japan by airplane and nothing was forbidden.
A lot of people have tried a lot of lenses. Officially. Yeah

Oh no, I only just found this.. And Chur isn't exactly round the corner for me (though I'm sure lots of you in the US would argue it is, but our scales tend to be a bit smaller )!

Where I live anything less than a hour drive is "just round the corner". It's 20 miles to the nearest grocery store................

Do you commute an hour or more to work daily? I know people here that do that.. even out of state! And it boggles my mind.

Ahh how I think I'd enjoy working from home.. your own home, no commute.. plus, you can hop on the PF during break times..

Anything over 30 minutes for me is an excursion. Work commute is 20 minutes and that's a big deal. On paper St. Louis is really spread out, but if you live near the center as I do almost everything is within a half hour.

OTOH my associate lives 75 minutes away. 20 acres in completely undeveloped countryside is less money than a suburban home, including the transportation cost. I couldn't do it, but her husband works 75 miles the other direction so they're placed where they think they should be.

That's 150 mins each day on the road.. 2 and a half hours of your life is spent daily on driving. eep. That makes me shiver even thinking about it.. that job must be incredibly nice!
