+1 for very quiet shutter. Much quieter than the Nikon FF I've used.

Bravo to Ricoh for AVI format on K-1!
I don't need hi-speed - I need colors - AVI is only one colorful video format on DSLR!
H264 looks like a monochrome

AVI is a file type, not a codec.

K-1 does 15 MP with APSC Mode?

I found this in the internet:

[35 mm Vollformat]

JPEG: L (36 MP: 7.360 x 4.912)

RAW: (36 MP: 7.360 x 4.912

[APS-C Größe]

JPEG: L (15 MP: 4.800 x 3.200)

RAW: (15 MP: 4.800 x 3.200)

Link: http://www.kameraforum.camera-info.de/attachments/pentax-k-1-technische-daten-pdf.129133/

It shows an effective resolution of 15 mp for the APS-C mode of the K-1.

Can that be? I would have expected that the 1.5x crop leads to 24 mp resolution when using non-ff lenses.

I would fall back from my K-3 II into regions below K-5 in respect of APS-C resolution.

The crop is measured in height (or width), so in area (or pixel count) you need to divide by 1.5^2=2.25 (actually it's a little more than 1.5, that's why you end up with 15mp and not 16mp).

OTOH, you can crop many non-ff lenses less than 1.5x, so if you don't use the automatic crop, but crop as needed in PP, you will probably get at least 24 mp for many lenses.

But 1.5 squared is 2.25, Pete!

Oops - thank you, I see. Quite trivial at second glance. The fact is quite disappointing for me. I had thought to get out 24 mp and continue on my current level with my actual lens lineup for a start when upgrading.

Which lenses do you have that won't work with the K-1?

The only real FF lenses I have myself are a few really old ones (e.g. M 50/1.7), but when I'm eventually able to afford the new camera, I expect to use both the DA35 Ltd and the DA70 Ltd as if they were FF lenses. The DA15 won't be of much use, maybe I should start looking for FA20 on ebay already Besides, the crop mode won't be a step back in IQ from my K-5 anyway.
