now THAT would be interesting.

If it is indeed a pair of new primes, and possibly tied in with Tamron, then I would guess a similar f1.8 prime in an 85mm f1.8 and a wide angle prime, 24mm f1.8?

That would leave space for the Pentax designed D-FA* lenses such as a no compromise D-FA* 85mm f1.4 for example.

It could create three distinct ranges:

D-FA Limited / FA Limited - Premium, Lightweight, metal body, compact.
D-FA - Cheaper/valie range, compromise between size/weight/price (possibly WR)
D-FA* - No compromise, fast, top level quality but large/expensive with AW/WR build.

In terms of immediate prime lenses for Pentax to release, I would have thought a standard 50mm (likely D-FA) and a 85mm (D-FA or D-FA*) would be the first 'needed' primes, outside of telephoto.

Just a thought....

Not small!!! One is 50 1.2 and one is 85 1.4... Just my guess :-)

Two lenses sitting on their L brackets - probably 150-450 and 70-200 which Pentaxians as a group have either in our hands or soon to be. Next lens hidden behind one of the big zooms, probably the 24-70/2.8, which we have in our hands. Next, fully visible, another zoom (two knurled rings); probably the 28-105, which we will very soon have in our hands. Then two unmarked lenses that look like primes. Both too long for wide-angle primes IMO; one could be your 85mm and the other... a D-FA 50mm? How fast? Dare we hope for f/1.2?

The DA 50 f/1.8 and DA* 55 f/1.4 are D FAs in all but name. They afford Ricoh some time to work on a high quality 50 mm and focus on other areas (e.g. 24 mm and 85 mm) first.

Indeed, and also interesting from a manufacturer's standpoint (cost-cutting; no separate batches or re-tooling needed for different mounts) but it would still be a engineering feat (with all inherent problems).

I'm guessing rebadged Tamron 35 and 45, even though those overlap with the FA limiteds. Hope they surprise us with something different though!

I realise that, but it would also be an 'easy' fix to turn around a quick lens release. Based on one of those lenses with upgraded DC motor, quickshift, HD coating etc.

Just seen this on dpreview:

the unmarked on the right is comparable size to DA*55 - surely updated to DFA designation with HD coating -maybe faster DC focus motor. And the chub one on the left is an 85/1.4 - Size wise simlar to the FA*85 with modern motor and weather sealing.

I'm hoping for a new version of a 20mm 1.x and then something spectacular around 135mm F1.x

That would mean an availability in fast primes of DFA20, Fa31, Fa43, Fa50, Fa77, Fa85, Dfa100, DFA135, Da200 and Da300. (I understand these work as 35mm lenses. Maybe I'm wrong. )
What is missing? Maybe upgrade the Fa and Da Lenses over time. Add a TS 24ish and an upgrade of the terrific 10-17 and then maybe a primo rehash of the legendary 200mm macro?

I have quite a bit of the range covered. Not sure I could afford the rest

The fourth lens seems to be 15-30/2.8, then the first unmarked can be a mock-up of the 28-105. The last one could be a new upcoming lens.

That's a dream, not a guess (I have the same dream actually )

Based on my measurements, the filter diameter of the big one is between 58mm and 62mm. The other one is roughly 52mm front element diameter... With an approximate length of 75mm and 67mm.
From this, assuming that 1) the optical design is simple 2) the front element is the pupil of the system, I get f/1.8 or f/2 for the first one and f/2.2 for the second one (weird, so it may be a f/2.4 lens, in the Pentax tradition).
Anyway, very exciting to see new lenses coming

Yes I thought the same... But after checking, the filter sizes seem different for the two lenses in the picture (one is wider than the other) whereas the 35mm and 45mm both have a 67mm filter size.

Thats a good point, possibly from left to right:

D-FA* 70-200 / D-FA 150-450 / D-FA 24-70 (peeking at the back) / D-FA 15-30mm / Unknown (possibly 85mm) / D-FA 28-105 (Prototype)
