The 85 f/1.8 is rumored to be priced around 1000$ ?! That's higher than the 85mm f/1.4 EX from Sigma... There are some Pentax 85mm SMC-A* and Zeiss 85mm f/1.4 available on the marketplace for less.
I agree, its crazy. They must be delusional about the value of VC or Canon/Nikon owners must be stupid, or a combination.

I'm guessing some of these unbadged tamron designs 35mm f1.8 & 45mm f1.8)... or possibly one of them is the 85mm f1.8

If Pentax release a new 85mm it better be a f1.4 .. i know that from 1.4 to 1.8 is a really tiny amount of light.. but.. as a markting thing.. f1.4 is much better for the brand to market.

the bokeh at f1.4 and 1.6 is different than at 1.8

Given the current cooperation between Tamron and Ricoh, there might be a possibility that the new Tamron 85/1,8 comes in K-mount too (or there could be a rebadged Pentax version).
On the other hand introducing a 85mm f1,8 lens when there is 77mm f1,8 lens doesn´t make much sense. Therefore I think the potential future 85mm prime will be f1,4, just to be more different from FA77/1,8.
I think it has been mentioned already but the new K-mount roadmap will be presented at CP+ in a couple of days, so we will soon know more.

Theoreticaly, yes, but I doubt it. F1,4 lens for fullframe is already big and to gain another 1/2 EV of speed would require bigger elements, making the lens huge and expensive.

True, but it would put Pentax in a unique position, the only other player competing in the 85mm market with an f/1.2 offering besides Canon.

If I remember correct it would also be the worlds first stabilized f/1,2 lens with AF.

Edit: Maybe except some tiny sensor video cameras?

Well my question has already been answered: Dpreview says "They'll be available for Canon, Nikon and (eventually) Sony Alpha mounts."

I am holding out in hope that the smaller of the two on the right is an update to the DFA50/2.8 macro with WR & DC. This is an optical beauty crying out for a body makeover. The larger on the left has the distinctive stumpy fastish 85 look.

They need a fast wide angle, so I'm guessing at something like a new FA*24mm f/2.0. It would be a good match to the 31mm.

Fast wide angle prime lens is one Pentax loopholes. I hope to see this on the next roadmap

Exactly. 24mm or wider, maybe 20mm. And it does not need to be super fast, f2-f2,8 is completey OK (to keep price and weight down).
