I hope you are right. I was very much hoping for some prime lenses for Photokina. I am not a zoom guy.

My personal forecast:
  • Wide-Angle Single Focus Lens: 28mm f/2.8
  • Large Aperture Standard Single Focus Lens: 50mm f/1.2 or 1.4
  • Large Aperture Medium Telephoto Single Focus Lens: 85mm f/1.4 or (less probable) f/1.8
  • Large Aperture Ultra Wide-Angle Single Focus Lens: 20mm or 24mm f/1.4 or f/1.8

28/2.8
50/1.4 - need to change old FA50/1.4
85/1.4 - there is Tamron's patent
24/2 0 - there is Tamron's patent

As for me - large aperture at middle-telephoto or standard length means f1.4
For ultra wide - f2

Based on previous form, any update of an existing lens would not appear on the roadmap. That's logical because if we knew an updated version of the FA Ltds, the DA* telephoto primes were coming, nobody would buy the remaining stock of the existing versions, and the retailers would be angry. So I think we might get updated DFA or DA lenses this year. There are plenty that could use a WR/DC makeover.
Hope you are right too.
I also hoped some surprise for the CP+, as @kenspo implied a few days ago, but... :'(

You forgot some:
Nikon's 500mm f/4 (not the latest): $7999 Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/4G ED VR Lens 2172 B&H Photo Video
Nikon's 600mm f/4 (not the latest): $8699 Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 600mm f/4G ED VR Lens 2173 B&H Photo Video
Sigma's 500mm f/4.5: $4999 Sigma 500mm f/4.5 EX DG APO HSM Autofocus Lens for Nikon 184306
Pentax's 560mm f/5.6: $4996 Pentax DA 560mm f/5.6 ED AW Lens 22180 B&H Photo Video

And all these prices are for new lenses. I'll be happy to spend $4000-5000 for a D-FA* 500mm f/4 (or f/4.5) at some point in the future (because I just bought a K-3 + 50 1.8 + flash + 150-450 ). See how long a FA* 250-600 for instance stays on the used market when someone sells it: a few hours. And its a $6000 used lens.
Of course I didn't listed out of production models, nor slower than f/4 lenses; to keep it apples to apples.
If you include the Sigma 500 f/4.5 and the Pentax 560mm f/5.6, well, problem solved: nothing to be done But you initially requested something else.

From pentaxforums, average paid new prices:
FA* 400mm f/5.6: $1200 SMC Pentax-FA* 400mm F5.6 ED [IF] Reviews - FA Prime Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database (but 400mm f5.6 is covered by the 150-450)
FA* 300mm f/2.8: $2267 SMC Pentax-FA* 300mm F2.8 ED [IF] Reviews - FA Prime Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database (3 guys paid it $1200 :'( ... A $1200 D-FA 300 2.8 would make me buy it within minutes ^^)
FA* 600mm f/4: $6533 SMC Pentax-FA* 600mm F4 ED [IF] Reviews - FA Prime Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database
FA* 250-600mm f/5.6: $7000 SMC Pentax-FA* 250-600mm F5.6 ED [IF] Reviews - FA Zoom Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database
Let's keep it apples to apples; much happened since those lenses were available new. How about inflation, how about the dramatic price increases we've seen since then?

All right, I'll consider my question answered: you would not pay for the lenses you're requesting. And Ricoh knows that, too.

Mmmh, these 4 lenses are still in production I think. At least they are listed on the brands websites, and they are purchasable new.
Nikon currently offers 2 options for their 300, 500 & 600 f4 : light and expensive brand new ones, and the previous versions, less expensive but heavier.

I listed the Sigma, as f/4 or f/4.5 is not a big difference. It's a nice lens, but I'd really prefer to spend that money into Pentax pockets... Moreover the 500 in not WR, and my only experience with Sigma was a real disaster (a 70-300 APO, worst lens I ever used)!
And I listed the Pentax to show a current Pentax super telephoto prime price. The 560mm f/5.6 is $5000, a 500mm f/4.5 could well be $5000 too, like the Sigma (of course, the MSRP would be higher, like it was for the 560).

I don't remember me saying that... Quite the opposite.
And if they price it like Nikon and Canon, I'll wait to buy a used one. And the sooner the lens will be released, the sooner used ones will be available.

135mm is considered the upper limit for medium telephoto range on 35mm format: 100mm~135mm, Short telephoto is traditionally in the 70~90mm range, Normal is 40~60mm*, Wide 28~35mm, ultra wide 18~25mm, super wide 10~17mm

*in the past there have been remarkably few examples of lenses in the 60~70mm focal length range. But for reasons that escape me several have popped up, and amazingly they are all macro lenses. They are from Venus, Laowa,Nikkor,Olympus and Canon.

I'm not even going to start speculating, but my FA*24, F28 and FA135 are looking a little nervous
Even my FA31, FA43 and FA77 aren't too sure of themselves.
My DA10-17 just wet its pants.

Some people have commented no more new lenses for 2016, and that might well be true. But particularly after the delay of the 70-200 and the K-1, Pentax might be more cautious about their delivery dates just to give themselves some leeway. It is often better to under promise and over deliver than the other way around.

I take any post about how Pentax should make things much cheaper than the competition as an "Don't count on me, I'm not willing to pay for it"

Ricoh would make them when they're convinced there are enough buyers, for a realistic price. They don't care that someone was able to buy some lens for $1200 a decade or so ago, if the modern equivalent would be a $5000 lens.

Since Ricoh improved (quieter) the screw drive motor in the K-1 I think it is safe to say they plan on keeping the screw drive lenses in production. IF we see updated FA LTD glass I think it will simply have the HD coatings and no other changes.
