I really want to see a modern version of the FA* 85mm f1.4. So hopefully the "Medium Telephoto Single Focus Lens" come out to be a modernised and optically improved version of that lens thus a D-FA* 85mm f1.4!

While the "Wide Angle Single-Focus Lens" might likely be a rebadged Tamron 35mm f1.8, but I hope it turn out to be a D-FA* 35mm f1.4, as I think having an rebadged Tamron 35mm f1.8 might overlap with FA 31mm f1.8 unless that lens on the road map is the modernised and optically improved version of the FA 31mm f1.8( D-FA 31mm f1.8??).

my personal forecast:
  • wide-angle single focus lens: 28mm f/2.8
  • large aperture standard single focus lens: 50mm f/1.2 or 1.4
  • large aperture medium telephoto single focus lens: 85mm f/1.4 or (less probable) f/1.8
  • large aperture ultra wide-angle single focus lens: 20mm or 24mm f/1.4 or f/1.8
24 2.8
50 1.2
85 1.4 /135 1.8
14 2.8

I take any post about how Pentax should make things much cheaper than the competition as an "Don't count on me, I'm not willing to pay for it"
I'm not asking "much cheaper than competition". I'm hoping a street price like the Sigma price (eg $4999 for a f/4.5), but would still be happy with a Nikon price ($7999 for a f/4). I'd be able to afford a new one priced like the Sigma, and I would have to wait either a discount or a used occasion for a Nikon price. The fact is that I will someday buy a 500 f/4 (or 4.5), and I'd really like to give this money to Pentax.

BTW, speaking about super telephoto lenses, a big difference with Nikon & Canon is the stabilization: at these focal lengths, having a stabilized lens is a real plus, and it must be really more complex to build. So IHMO it's normal to ask a little more for a given price (for instance a lighter lens, as they don't have to put the stab stuff), or a little bit cheaper for the same specs. They do it for most of their lenses, see the 150-450 for instance ($1650, when the Nikon 80-400 is $2300 & the Canon 100-400 is $2100 - B&H prices). So, a 3kg D-FA* 500mm f/4.5 at a MSRP of $6000-7000 and street price of $5000-6000 seems totally realistic to me (and would make me buy it).

I would order a 400 f4 tomorrow, and/or a 500 f4 by mid summer.

I don't know anybody with a fisheye, but I know a guy who shoots his 500 f4 from a kayak.

See, there is room for an AW 500 f/4 !

So what if you want a few standard primes right now.
There is the 35mm F2 AL, The FA 50mm F1.4 The limiteds 31/43/77 50/100macro 200 and 300 and 560

The DA* 55 DA35mm, DA40mm (not xs) DA 50mm DA70mm will work as well.

Missing a wide angle prime and a 135mm prime
so we have to go legacy (limiting it to AF options) The FA 20mm F2.8 FA*24mm F2, FA28mm F2.8 (soft ) F 28mm F2.8

For 135 there are the F and FA 135mm F2.8

Or third party:
Sigma: Sigma 15mm F2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye Lens Reviews - Sigma Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database
Legacy sigma:
Sigma 20mm F1.8 EX Aspherical DG DF RF Lens Reviews - Sigma Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database
Sigma 24mm F1.8 EX Aspherical DG DF Macro Lens Reviews - Sigma Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database
Sigma 24mm F2.8 AF Super Wide II Lens Reviews - Sigma Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database (cheap option)
Sigma 28mm F1.8 Aspherical II Lens Reviews - Sigma Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database
Sigma 28mm F1.8 EX DG Aspherical DG DF Macro Lens Reviews - Sigma Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database

Can't find other brand AF wide angle primes

Then there is of course MF Samyang: 14mm F2.8 24mm F1.4 24mm F3.5 Tiltshift.
legacy MF too many to name

Well, I have a DA10-17 FE, and also A*400/2,8 and A* 600/,56.

But I agree with Kunzite, I know hundreds of Pentaxians here in Italy and there is just a guy with FA*600/4, one with Sigma 500/4,5 and one with FA* 250-600 and one with A*300/2,8. All the others are perfectly fine with 300+1,4x, as they would never spent the amount of money needed for a 300/2,8, let alone longer, fast lenses.

well large aperture can be anywhere from f/1.2 to f/1.8, considering the focal length and the size of the K mount itself: f/1.8 seems more likely.

Looking back on older lens roadmaps I suppose we will never see what kind of a lens the DA*30mm was going to be:
Actually it could be F:2 as well when we are talking 24mm or wider....

Wide angle and ultra-wide angle? If it wasn't for the existence of the 15-30 zoom, I'd have suggested a 24 and a 15, both focal lengths having had a number of variants from Pentax in the past. I'm not sure if a 20mm would count as a UWA, these days.
But remember that the 15mm only sold 7 copies a year at a time Pentax was the worlds most popular SLR.
Pentax did almost bring a 18/2.8 onto the market 12-15 years ago. It got as far as getting a product number. Maybe this FA 18/2.8 is resurrected?

Why are you all talking about the Tamron 35/1.8 when Ricoh has an excellent FA35/2 ? I don't get it.

Some pro's I know usually rent these lenses for a job, and the rent price is included in the final product price.
