Now I'm going to stay up at night wondering if I can't afford the new 85mm or can't afford the new 135mm. I don't have an 85mm, so that would be a nice LBA excuse

Incidentally, the Nikkor f/1.8G full format lens line are very decent performers. If Pentax can come up with a 20~24mm f/1.8, 55~58mm f/1.4 and 90~105mm f/1.8 these FL would hardly affect the appeal of the FA ltds, and in fact would be complimentary to the existing limited lenses.
These suggested lenses/FLs are also welcome in apsc.

No. It simply because they are Pentax, they prefer to survey, study research the market and most of all, to keep us guessing again like the K-1. Hehe

In Pentax language wouldn't Wide Angle be FA31. Standard is the FA43. Medium Tele is the FA77. These lens should be the start to create DFA WR versions I would hope.

For Ultra Wide there are a lot of lenses to start from. I like them to keep it compact so a DFA 20 2.8 WR could fit that bill.

I believe he designed the 24-70, (which I use on my D810) so, for all intents and purposes, it's a 'Pentax' lens. I do expect the Pentax variant to have better coatings and build quality however. I love the lens, it beat my old Nikon 35/1.4 lens for my use and is almost as sharp as my Sigma 35/1.4. At 24mm it beats my Nikon 14-24 as well, but it's 'soft' at 70mm and needs to be stopped down to f/5.6 to match the sensor.

According to my MTF tests: the Tamron 15-30 f/2.8 beats the Nikkor 14-24 @ 24mm too.

If we haven't seen it by now, we most likely will never see it.

Why would they release them before announcing the body they're intended for? You could, of course, ask the same question about the D-FA150-450, but that lens was equally useful (possibly more so) for APS-C and not competing with existing DA lenses.

at least it is clear they mean F1.4 By large diameter.
Are you saying they have changed their terminology since previous roadmaps?

The D FA 15-30mm f/2.8 and D FA* 70-200 f/2.8 were "Large diameter" on previous roadmaps.

"Large diameter" may implies different f-number for zoom vs primes.

Thanks! It doesn't seem that the 70-200 had any external change.

I rather see a lens designed by the team behind the 31 Limited or the FA* 200/4 macro.
