New Ricoh patent - in-lens SR with AA filter simulator

Lately, many Ricoh camera-related patents are surfacing, on sites like e-gami; sign that Ricoh Imaging is working full steam. The last one (as of now) is about an in-lens SR which combines stabilization with an AA filter simulator:
Ricoh ????????????????????????????????So-net???

And - still camera-related but not for mere mortals consumers, using radar to remove haze from an image:
Ricoh ????????????????????????????So-net???

I hope this doesn't signal a move away from in-body SR... it's one of my favourite Pentax features. Maybe it's for longer lenses?

Don't panic.
They might go to a hybrid approach for the K-mount, but Pentax is already using in-lens SR with the 645z. Maybe they want to add the AA filter simulator in future 645 lenses.

Ah, yes... The 645Z. Hadn't thought of that. I'm just going to have a lie down and calm myself...

I'm with you. That's why I chose Pentax when I moved away from Olympus. I believe IBIS or in body SR is one of their strong points.

I don’t think Pentax will use the lens SR themselves. I think it must be because they intend to make money on patent licensing.

The de-haze patent looks like its using a radar to make a depth map of the scene in order to be able to locally increase the scene contrast according to the depth.

Yeah, I think this is for super telephoto and possibly macro lenses. That is where in-camera SR might not be as effective as in-lens. And remember, just because there is a patent for it, doesn't mean we will ever see it. Often patents are put out and never realized, sometimes patents are even made to block the competition from making similar technology, or to fool them into making false assumptions about the future lineup..

It's why I would choose Olympus if I ever picked up micro 4/3. Mind you, I sat my ME next to a couple of those M4/3 cameras last time I was in the big city and it's nice to think that I have a full-frame Pentax camera which is almost smaller than a micro 4/3 Olympus body. Yeah, I know, it's film - but still full-frame.

No, but it would be a great technology for trading with CaNikon. Not all patents are meant for use, some are meant to stop or trade with competitors. We know that Nikon tried to make a AA simulator (don't remember the exact technology) but they haven't put it to use so maybe it didn't work. If Ricoh can stop them from simply shaking the lens that would be great

They already do:
HD PENTAX-DA645 28-45mmF4.5ED AW SR / Wide-Angle Lenses / 645-mount Lenses / Lenses / Products | RICOH IMAGING
HD PENTAX-D FA645 MACRO 90mmF2.8ED AW SR / Macro Lenses / 645-mount Lenses / Lenses / Products | RICOH IMAGING

Plus, they might want to use in-lens SR in non-ILC cameras, non-consumer products etc.

Now if they (PENTAX) could finally make their own lenses and stop rebadging Tamrons, that would be excellent!

Yes, imagine that, they could be making instead lenses like the D FA* 70-200 f/2.8, D FA 150-450, D FA 28-105...
