That's the issue with saying anything.. the people who want something to happen with manipulate what you say to meet their desires. It's a game of Chinese Whispers (aka Telephone game) but on a more global scale than around a room with your friends.

I find it happens the opposite too during arguments to solidify people's viewpoints against yours/you.. sigh.

This is great news! I wonder what the price will be? If it's not too astronomical, building a kit from scratch with this camera could easily give landscape photographers a more lightweight and less expensive package than with the 645Z, since you don't need the super heavy and super expensive DA WA zoom (but can do with a used old version of the 35mm instead).
Spot on! In order to get a wide wide angle (not superwide) on a 645z you need to spend $5000 and carry a 1.4kg! lens! No way I'm going to do that.
In comparison the 33-55, covering about 21mm focal lenght in 35mm terms on a FF 645 camera, weights only 500g. That's less than pro grade zooms for FF (35mm). If the 33-55 should prove inadequate for an FF 645 sensor, the 35mm and the 55mm should do the job.
I have the 33-55, 75, 120 Macro and the 150-300. I'm waiting for an FF 645....

I will copy my post from Facebook here:

"Regarding my post earlier about the 100mp sensor from Sony: I have never said/confirmed that Pentax is releasing a new 645 with that sensor. I only said I'm told they have signed a deal around a sensor they potentially can use in a camera. Ricoh (Japan) is not happy, since someone has told them i have confirmed this or that, i have not. Every sayings about which camera they can (not will) use it in, are rumours. People are too fast to make their own conclusions, so from now on i will be more careful around snippets i share. Well, it's not like any of us think less of them for this. It's no confirmation of anything, but it demonstrates long term thinking at least in an abstract way. A smaller company like Ricoh/Pentax you hope will drive competition. I would like to stay confident in their future - as a working professional I look forward to the day when I can comfortably ditch my Nikons (I can't quite yet), because I simply enjoy using Pentax and Sony stuff more. The more Pentax develops their professional grade equipment, the better I feel about buying further into the 645 system along the way. When I switch into using a new system, I hope to get 10+ years out of the glass etc. It's only just in the last year or two that my Nikon stuff has really started to show it's age and I've started looking seriously at other brands for incremental upgrades.

100 mp sensor

Would be awesome if the new Pentax 645 would use this sensor. However, I have my worries if Ricoh is commited to the 645 format in the long run. They would have to do more to make this platform compete with Hasselblad and Phase, make it more professional. For one: make much better lenses. Leaf shutter lenses. Or, but very unlikely, make Zeiss or Schneider lenses fit on their system so people can choose.

Hasselblad just announced a 100 Mp camera, H6D, very likely using the same Sony CMOS sensor as Phase one uses, and Pentax have signed to potentially use in the future.

The more interesting part (for me) is a quote from CEO Perry Oosting:
QuoteQuote:
“The new H6Ds we are launching have the best in class ergonomics in terms of handling, but they aren’t the most portable.. Portability will be key – but how and which ways it will be portable is yet to be announced.”
Mirrorlessrumors.com speculates that is a hint for a future Hasselblad MILC MF camera. That might mean that my idea of a Pentax 645 MILC may be a good idea, and that Pentax may not be the first to bring such a camera system.

it's standart MF camera
Hasselblad H6D-100c

Does he mean that future camera could be mirrorless?

MF mirrroless needs very high-capacity battery and it's hard to say how to realize LV for a long time with so big sensor.

It could be compact if they produce 645Z like camera without digital back.

Well Leica S series are quite smaller than any MF cameras. It has little bit of bigger size of current DSLR cameras. Since both Phase one and Hasselblad are using digital back system and Pentax is using traditional body design, they are quite huge. Meanwhile, Leica S cameras are totally new MF cameras so the design and system itself made MF cameras to be bigger.

A perfect example why I spend as little time as possible on PF now... Thanks for being real.

After a long break, the Ricoh, finally, plans to announce a successor to the 645D medium format. The new model is rumored to get the name of Pentax 645D II.

Then what is the 645Z
