Only 100MP for 645? They need to make pixel-shift work on it to impress.

For by the time any 100MP 645 comes to market, Canikon (and Sony themselves) will probably all have 50MP+ full-frames available.
A Full size 645 sensor with pixel shift would be something pretty amazing. I imagine it would take a huge amount of processing power and a monster buffer to run 4 100MP images in quick sucession.

The battery required to power the electromagnets to move such a gigantic sensor around would be pretty amazing too

Anyone else notice that this rumored sensor is physically bigger than the current one? I'm still on the 645D and happy with it, but a less cropped 645 sensor, no matter the MP count is probably the top of my list.
By the time this maybe comes out I might just be ready to take that plunge again.

The use of terms like "full size" and "gigantic" in the previous two posts would suggest the answer is yes....

Wouldn't be possible to put SR in MF camera? Sony A7 series were known to be impossible to put 5 axis SR but they did within that small body. From this case, Pentax 645 can put SR too. Also, when they interviewed about 645Z they mentioned about adding SR but they couldn't at that time.

This is in line with Ricoh comment many years ago that they want to be the alternative choice for Pro(Non sport) . By having best in class MF, best feature on FF for the price and top APS-C for general photog. That they have a full system .

If you look at it , they are not interested in sport or video . But I will not be at all surprise that Ricoh will come a with a dedicated camera for video.
Here Ricoh slide of their business plan and video is a key parts of B2B and if you look they intend to bring that to the consumer products.

Let's see... since it has double the number of pixels, I would double the model name/letter (the Z part, as 645 is the mount); and it would be the top model... enter the 645ZZ Top
This idea rocks!

The magnets needed for the SR system would probably be big enough to cause the camera itself to vibrate.

Pentax need to put in a bigger battery in the coming Pentax FF 645 ZZ top. Like one they have in power drills, they have Li-ion now.

Then they should make a new battery or a battery grip for 645 camera.

I wish!

A 100MP sound interesting but what does it really equate to. How big of a photo are you expecting to print?

Dynamic range and iso performance?.....isn't that what people pay for? The best camera for ISO is still the Df.....and it is only a FF camera at 16MP. Does that make any sense given it's sensor size? Can't someone provide a MF sensor with killer DR and ISO?
