The more I looked at this lens, the more I'm interested. The focus lock is a great idea and something that would make a wide angle like this useful. Simply set it to hyper focal and lock the focus and you are ready to shoot away. I also like the infinity detents. Plus it's weather sealed.

Downsides, it's big.

Another sample shot on Flickr

Not a particularly good image but worth a look if you're interested in this lens. If you follow the link to Flickr the image previous to this one is quite impressive for showing edge sharpness of the test lens.

It looks like the camera moved slightly diagonally in the wind. The older samples, especially those from the church, looks notably sharper.

I went looking for updates on their webpage last week and there wasn't anything new. Maybe something will be released for the next big photography show?

There was an update about a week ago for the stream on Flickr here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/irixlens/27466584393/in/dateposted/

They make updates (at least more often but not official) in their facebook and Twitter pages, last time i visit them they wrote about dont reach the spring deadline and they are going for a Summer release, and i think they also say they are in the final stages of the pre-production, with 99% final prototypes in hands.

Ah yes social media, I'm not on those platforms yet it's logical that they'd post updates there first.

Ta for posting the info hopefully the wait is over soon and we'll get to see what they can really do.

Testing and checking, checking and testing. All this takes time in order to deliver a really good lens. Here are some new samples of #Irix 15mm f/2.4. What do you think?

I'd love to see a future 10mm (not fisheye) FF ready also!

Irix images Is this odd?

I'm not one for making statements without proof, but looking at the latest Irix 15mm images posted to Flickr had me somewhat confused.

I'm not an expert on this style of photo but the composition of the two images of the Milky Way make little sense if you're trying to create a positive image (pardon the pun) for this soon to be released lens.

The photos in question show the body of the Milky Way cut in half for one, and the other shows the Milky Way better but is on a silly angle. The images are here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/irixlens/28856744336/in/photostream/

So what are your thoughts? Bad choice in marketing with the amateurish images or could the lens peripherals need less exposure; possibly due to less than stellar edge performance?

Or maybe I'm just into conspiracies, but it seemed odd so thought I'd ask the question here. I'll put my foil hat back on whilst I wait for any replies...

Hmm. I am not really sure what to think about their "Test-Pictures" in general.
I'll wait for a serious review by either an experienced photographer or a review-internetsite. I am already pretty sure they lost a lot of people who were waiting for this particular lens. Those who needed a good wideangle got already a Samyang 14 2.8 or the more expensive but better (WR and IQ) Pentax 15-30. There are also other special options (Iowa etc.)

Im really like the glowing marks and the water sealings, but i need the wide angle, more than once my hand hover in the Rokinon 14mm, and recently on the Voigtlander 20mm, Samyang gonna release their 20mm next month and Irix maybe announce their 15 and give a release date.... Idk its very likely to me to go with the Samyang 20mm, sorry Irix.
